A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to join us for Coffee with a Cop at Pinecrest Bakery! We are truly grateful for the continued support, conversations, and connections that make each Coffee with a Cop so special.

We were especially grateful to have the opportunity to recognize Chief Stanley during her final Coffee with a Cop as Chief of Police. It was a meaningful morning filled with good conversation, familiar faces, and a special moment to celebrate her final Coffee with a Cop in this role. 💙

Thank you to our community for continuing to support our officers and for making these gatherings such a wonderful opportunity to connect.

School's back in session, and so is our Traffic Unit.

In August, our officers ran dedicated enforcement at eight school zones across the city: Royal Palm Elementary, Endeavour Elementary, Lauderhill 6-12, Eagles Nest Elementary, Castle Hill Elementary, Lauderhill Paul Turner Elementary, Martin Luther King Elementary, and Wingate Oaks.

That's on top of enforcement on the corridors residents have been telling us about — Inverrary Boulevard, Rock Island Road, and NW 31st Avenue.

Traffic Unit wrote 695 citations in August — 45% of every citation the entire department issued last month.

If you're dropping off or picking up near one of these schools, slow down, watch for crossing guards, and expect to see us out there.

Everybody home safe. Every trip. 🚨

Congratulations to our newest Citizens Police Academy graduates!

Over several weeks this August, this class sat in on the kind of material our own officers train on — how we investigate, how we make decisions under pressure, what a shift actually looks like — and graduated together on September 8.

Some of our graduates go on to join Citizens on Patrol (COP), volunteering their time to support our officers in the field.

If you want to understand this department from the inside, not just see it on a call — this is how. Watch this page for information on the next class.

In July, this team served 520 people.

Our Victim Advocate Unit is the part of this department most residents don't know exists until they need it — and then their unwavering commitment to help is the part they remember.

What they actually do: sit with you after the worst thing that's ever happened. Walk you into the courthouse to file an injunction and stay with you through the hearing. Explain what happens next in a criminal case, in plain language, as many times as you need to hear it. Connect you to counseling, relocation help, compensation, and shelter. Show up at 2 a.m.

Last month they served 520 clients, including 398 new clients since the fiscal year began in October.

The unit also coordinates critical incident stress management responses across Broward County — supporting first responders from other agencies after calls that stay with them, including two child drowning responses and the death of a fellow officer last month.

They sit on the Broward Domestic Violence Council, the Broward Victim's Rights Coalition, the Broward Su***de Coalition, and the Public Safety Chaplaincy board.

If you've been the victim of a crime in Lauderhill — whether or not you've filed a report, and whether or not you want to prosecute — you can contact our Victim Advocate Unit at 954-497-4700.

You don't have to do it alone. That's the entire point of this team.

Meet Detective Alexandra Johnson, a dedicated member of our Police department for seven years. She proudly serves as the department’s Animal Cruelty Detective, driven by her lifelong passion for animals.

When the chance came to specialize in animal cruelty cases, Detective Johnson eagerly embraced the role to protect and be the voice for the animals of Lauderhill. Beyond her professional commitments, she’s a proud fur mom to her cat and chihuahua.
