As we continue to address the ongoing challenges posed by large disorderly crowds, partnerships such as the one we share with the United States Marshals Service, alongside our state and local law enforcement partners, remain critical to maintaining public safety and ensuring a coordinated response to criminal activity within our community.

The District of Delaware is working closely with local PD as violent crimes have increased. Marshal Weldin stated, "This is kind of partnership is critical to helping us track down violent offenders and support the work being done in our local communities."

DRUG INVESTIGATION LEADS TO SEARCH WARRANT AND MULTIPLE FELONY ARRESTS

On Friday, April 17, 2026, the Laurel Police Department concluded a two-month-long drug investigation with the ex*****on of a search warrant in the 500 block of the Little Creek Apartment Complex. The tactical ex*****on of this operation was conducted in conjunction with the Seaford Police Department’s SPEAR Team.

During the search of the residence, officers located approximately 2.73 grams of he**in, 1.1 grams of co***ne, and 0.1 grams of crack co***ne, all packaged in a manner consistent with the distribution of narcotics. Officers also recovered a .38 caliber handgun. Two juvenile children were present inside the residence at the time of the search warrant ex*****on.

As a result of this investigation, the following individuals were taken into custody without incident and have been charged with the following:

Deandre Glover, 33, of Laurel, DE:
Manufacture/Deliver/Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 (Class C Felony)
Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 (Class C Felony)
Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 (Class E Felony)
Conspiracy 2nd Degree to Commit Felony (Class G Felony)
Endangering the Welfare of a Child by Committing a Drug Act (Class A Misdemeanor) x2

Glover was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $20,001 secured bail. He was also issued a no-contact order for the Little Creek Apartment Complex.

Jessica Williams, 38, of Laurel, DE:
Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 (Class C Felony)
Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 (Class E Felony)
Conspiracy 2nd Degree to Commit Felony (Class G Felony)
Endangering the Welfare of a Child by Committing a Drug Act (Class A Misdemeanor) x2

Williams was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.

Martinez was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $10,000 secured bail. He was also issued a no-contact order for the Little Creek Apartment Complex.

JUVENILE IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING ARMED ROBBERY, ONE JUVENILE SUSPECT STILL AT LARGE

On April 11th, 2026 officers were advised of a late reported robbery that occurred the day prior in the 1300 block of the Holly Brook Apartment Complex. The victim stated on April 10th, 2026 he went to the apartment complex for a scheduled meeting to purchase a hooded sweatshirt for a predetermined amount of money. Upon his arrival to the complex he was approached by two black male subjects to complete the transaction. While completing the transaction the black male subjects brandished what he believed was a black handgun, pointed at him and demanded he exit his vehicle. While one subject held the victim at gunpoint the other removed USC from his pockets before fleeing the scene.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects in this incident were Tajon Bacon, 17, of Seaford DE, and a known juvenile accomplice. Investigators drafted arrest warrants for Bacon and his accomplice for the incident.

On April 15th, 2026 Laurel PD units were contacted by the Delaware State Police who had located the juvenile accomplice from this incident. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Laurel PD for processing. It was discovered that the juvenile accomplice was on pre-trail release from the courts stemming from narcotic and firearm related charges in 2025. The juvenile suspect was charged and arraigned on the following:
- Robbery 1st Degree
- Conspiracy 1st Degree
He was later transferred to Stevenson Juvenile Detention Center in lieu of posting $11,000 cash only bond.

At this time, Tajon Bacon remains wanted in connection to this incident and is considered armed and dangerous. If you know his location or whereabouts, do not approach. Contact 911 immediately.

The Laurel Police Department reminds the public to exercise caution when arranging to meet individuals for private sales or purchases. Whenever possible, utilize well-lit, public locations or designated safe exchange zones, and avoid conducting transactions in areas known for higher levels of criminal activity.

SHOOTING SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

The Laurel Police Department has made significant progress in the investigation of the April 1, 2026 shooting incident that occurred at the 200 building of the Little Creek Apartments.

Through various investigative measures, and with an overwhelming amount of cooperation from the public and witnesses, detectives identified the suspect as a 16-year-old Black male from Laurel, Delaware. An arrest warrant was subsequently obtained charging him with the following offenses:
• Attempted Manslaughter
• Assault in the First Degree
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
• Possession, Purchase, Ownership, or Control of a Firearm/Destructive Weapon Within 10 Years of a Prior Felony Conviction
• Reckless Endangering in the First Degree (creating a substantial risk of death to another)
• Criminal Mischief Over $1,000 (three counts)

On Friday evening, investigators received information the suspect fled to Maryland. A coordinated effort with the Cambridge Police Department led to the suspect being located and taken into custody without incident.

At the time of his apprehension, the suspect was found to be in possession of a 3D-printed “ghost gun” equipped with a high-capacity magazine and modified for fully automatic fire. The firearm was loaded with ammunition consistent with what was recovered from the scene on April 1, 2026.

At this time, the suspect is being held pending extradition to Delaware.

This remains an active investigation. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

On April 1, 2026, at approximately 7:53 PM, officers from the Laurel Police Department responded to the 200 building of the Little Creek Apartment Complex for a reported shots fired complaint.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a large and uncooperative crowd of approximately 300 individuals in the parking lot. Despite these challenges, officers were able to quickly assess the situation and locate a single victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered aid until emergency medical services arrived and assumed care.

The victim, identified as an adult black male, was transported by EMS to Tidal Health Nanticoke for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, the victim is reported to be in stable condition.

With the assistance of the Delaware State Police Troop 5 Patrol, Delaware State Police Troop 4 Governor’s Task Force, Seaford Police Department, and Probation and Parole officers, the scene was quickly secured, allowing for prompt medical attention to the victim and thorough processing of the scene.

At this time, investigators are actively working to gather information related to the incident, including developing suspect information. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.

The Laurel Police Department is currently investigating a shooting in the area of the 200 building of Little Creek Apartments.

Upon arrival, officers located a single victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim is receiving medical attention at this time.

There is a large police presence in the area as officers continue to investigate. We ask that the public avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to operate safely and efficiently.

🐣🚔 Laurel PD in the Community 🚔🐣

Members of the Laurel Police Department had a great time this weekend participating in the North Laurel Early Learning Academy’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt!

Cpl. Handy, Senior Corporal Granados, Sgt. Gardner, Sgt. Hitchens and Lt. Bauer were on scene—trading in their usual duties for egg patrol, candy security, and crowd control (of very enthusiastic kids).

We’re happy to report:
• No eggs were left behind
• No candy-related incidents occurred

Lt. Bauer did attempt to establish a perimeter… but it turns out you can’t really contain 100 kids sprinting toward candy. Lesson learned.

All jokes aside, events like this are what community policing is all about. We’re proud to be part of such a great community and appreciate the opportunity to connect with our youngest residents (who clearly have better cardio than most of us).

Thank you to North Laurel Early Learning Academy for having us out—we’re already looking forward to next year!
