Dear West Laurel Swim Club Members,
Summer is here and the pool is buzzing! We’re so glad to see you all out there! As we head into the heart of the season, your board wants to take a moment to remind everyone about a few key pool rules. A full copy is posted in the office.
Here are some of the biggies:
🚫 No glass containers anywhere in the pool enclosure
👙 Proper bathing attire required — cut-off shorts and jeans are not permitted in the pool
🤿 Floatation devices (arm floaties, inflated rings, etc.) are only permitted if a parent/guardian is actively working with the child IN the pool. No floatation devices can be used while using the diving board.
🧑🧑🧒The 2-3 foot area is a safe space for smaller kids. Older kids should be mindful of the little ones when playing in this area. Only pool noodles and coast guard approved flotation devices in this area.
🙅 No pushing, dunking, or throwing anyone into the pool
🏃 No running on the deck
🌩️ When staff blow the whistle for thunder/lightning, everyone must exit immediately and find shelter. The pool reopens 30 minutes after the last occurrence. If the decision is made to close the pool for the day due to weather, it will be emailed to membership and posted to social media.
⏰ Rest period happens at 10 minutes to every hour — all swimmers under 16 must exit the pool until the second whistle
📏 The slide requires a minimum height of 48 inches, and sliders must go feet-first
🐾 No pets in the pool enclosure (service animals excepted)
A few reminders for our littles:
• Children not yet toilet trained must wear a swim diaper under their suit
• The wading pool is reserved for children 6 and under and their supervising adults
• No child should ever be left unattended in the wading pool
Thank you for helping make WLSC a safe, fun place for every family. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to a fantastic summer together!
