Friends of Laurel Library The Friends support the Laurel Branch of the Prince Georges County Md Library System

The Friends of the Laurel Library was organized in January 1996 to promote the Laurel Branch of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System (www.pgcmls.info), Maryland; to stimulate and maintain library reading programs, chess clubs, teen groups, and public support for the Laurel Library; and, to supplement the Laurel Library's budget for special equipment, materials and programs. Our memb

ership dues, book sale profits and generous donations have provided numerous amenities for the Laurel Library including:
Summer and other Children's Programs, funding for special events such as the Teddy Bear picnic, furniture for the Children's Room, shelving units for the Young Adult Area, support for the Teen Advisory Board, complimentary supply station at minimal cost at the Reference Desk and, an annual Staff Appreciation Day.

Are you ready for summer? The Laurel Library is! Registration is now open for Summer Prince George's 2026: Unearth a Story. Earn cool prizes and hang out at your library all summer long.

Here is our June calendar of events with a new layout- page 1 has in-branch events and pages 2-3 lists our virtual events. The calendar is also attached for your convenience. Feedback on the calendar layout is appreciated.

Special events this month include:
Citizenship Study Group, Wednesdays at 6 pm (adults)
Yoga for Families, Friday 6/5 at 4 pm (preschool, elementary)
Kickoff Summer Prince George's, Thursday 6/25 at 4 pm (preschool, elementary, teens, adults)
Gardening Together: Plant Therapy, Saturday 6/27 at 1 pm and 2:30 pm (teens, adults)
Craft and Create Patriotic Hoop Art, Saturday 6/27 at 2 pm (teens, adults)

πŸ“šJoin us for a Tavern Talk Fundraiser on Sunday, April 26th from 3:30-5:30 PM. We're hosting a ticketed presentation in conjunction with to raise money for Howard County Library events!

🍻Grab a drink from the Bibliopub then listen to JP Fetherston give a presentation about the tavern as a hub of social, cultural, and political activity during the colonial era.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased through our linktr.ee (in bio) or the Howard County Library. All proceeds from ticket sales go to library author talks. Show up to support your local library and to learn some niche history, cheers!
