We are entrusted with speaking for those who no longer have a voice. That responsibility demands professionalism, respect, and compassion at all times. This type of behavior is disrespectful to the deceased, their families, and it will not be tolerated.

⚠️⚠️

The Laurens County Coroner’s Office is advising residents of ongoing and potential flooding concerns due to recent and continuing heavy rainfall across the county.

Several areas are experiencing rising water levels, and conditions may change rapidly. Roads may become impassable with little warning, particularly in low-lying areas, near creeks, and locations with poor drainage.

Residents are strongly urged to take the following precautions:

* Do not drive through flooded roadways—turn around, don’t risk it
* Avoid walking or playing in floodwaters
* Keep children away from ditches, streams, and standing water
* Use extra caution during nighttime travel when hazards are harder to see
* Check on vulnerable neighbors if it is safe to do so
* Follow local weather updates and Laurens County Emergency Management for the latest flood alerts and safety information

Floodwater can be deeper and more dangerous than it appears. Even shallow moving water can cause loss of control of a vehicle.

The Laurens County Coroner’s Office reminds the public that no destination is worth risking a life. Stay alert, stay weather-aware, and prioritize safety.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. On this Memorial Day, the United States Armed Forces are remembered with gratitude, respect, and reflection.

As families gather and flags fly, we ask our community to take a moment to remember the fallen heroes whose courage secured the freedoms we enjoy every day.

From all of us at the Coroner’s Office, we extend our deepest appreciation to those who served and to the families who carry their memory forward.

🇺🇸 “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” 🇺🇸

The Laurens County Coroner’s Office is proud to announce the commissioning of two nationally certified Human Remains Detection K9s on May 13, 2026.

Please welcome Jeffra, a German Shepherd, and Ellie, a Golden Retriever, to our team. These highly trained K9s are certified in both land and water human remains detection through the American Mantrailing Police & Working Dog Association and will serve as a valuable resource in assisting with death investigations and search operations throughout Laurens County and surrounding areas.

This program was made possible through our partnership with Foothills Search and Rescue and Astro Kennels at no cost to Laurens County or its citizens.

We are also proud to introduce Jeff Fowler, Search Manager of Foothills Search and Rescue and owner of Astro Kennels. Jeff is a former supervisor with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, where he served for 13 years. He is an experienced dog handler with extensive knowledge in search, recovery, and investigative operations.

The addition of these K9 teams reflects our continued commitment to professionalism, public service, and providing advanced investigative resources to our community and partnering agencies.

We are excited for Jeffra and Ellie to begin serving Laurens County and surrounding areas.
