We were proud to partner with the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce and S²TEM Centers SC to host Hire Summit: Laurens yesterday. The event connected local employers with high school seniors ready to enter the workforce, offering on-the-spot resume sharing and interviews.

Students came prepared, and employers across manufacturing, government, healthcare, construction, and more had the chance to meet their future workforce—strengthening Laurens County’s talent pipeline.

More big news for Laurens County!

Suniva, Inc., a leading U.S. solar cell manufacturer, has selected Laurens County for its first South Carolina facility — bringing a $350 million investment and 564 new jobs to our community.

The company will locate in a 620,000 sq. ft. facility in Hunter Industrial Park, expanding domestic solar manufacturing and strengthening America’s energy future. Once operational in 2027, this site will help Suniva reach one of the largest solar cell production capacities in the country.

We enjoyed attending yesterday’s Upstate SC Alliance Annual Meeting, “Placemaking & Prosperity.” President & CEO John Lummus highlighted the strength of the region’s economic development ecosystem, sharing how industrial growth is creating ripple effects that support businesses and opportunities across the Upstate. We also heard meaningful stories throughout, including from keynote speaker Didi Caldwell, who shared her family’s multi-generational roots in Greenwood and reflected on how the Upstate adapted and evolved through years of change within the textile industry. Opportunity carrying from one generation to the next resonates in here Laurens County, where hard work, local industry, and regional partnership continue to open doors for the future.
