The Laurens Police Department is currently investigating a recent string of motor vehicle thefts within the City of Laurens. We want to encourage all citizens to remain vigilant and take proactive steps to protect their property.
Please remember:
• Always lock your vehicle doors
• Do not leave keys or key fobs inside your vehicle
• Remove valuables from plain view whenever possible
If you see suspicious activity or behavior in your neighborhood, please report it immediately to Laurens County 911.

UPDATE #3, 5/27, 7:55 AM - All known road closures/impassable roads have been reopened.

UPDATE #2, 10:20 PM - Some roads have reopened. They have been updated below. Continue to use caution.

UPDATE #1, 10:05 PM - Flood waters are beginning to recede from the roadway. Please continue to use caution while traveling, as some areas may still have standing water and unsafe conditions. Please check back later for updates on specific roads.

There is severe flooding throughout Laurens County, including Laurens City and Clinton City. Do not drive around barricades. Do not drive through flooded roads. TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN.

If you have an emergency, call 911 immediately.

City of Laurens Police Department Investigates School-Related Incident; No Danger to School

The City of Laurens Police Department is aware of a situation involving a Sanders Middle School student related to the creation of a TikTok video containing inappropriate and threatening content.

We are currently conducting an investigation into this matter in coordination with Laurens County School District 55. The student and the student’s parents have been contacted by the City of Laurens Police Department, and the school district is addressing disciplinary actions in accordance with its policies.

At this time, there is no danger to the school, and there are no immediate threats to students or staff.

We take all matters involving potential threats seriously, particularly those involving schools, and will continue to work closely with school officials as the investigation progresses.

Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, no further details are being released at this time. Any questions regarding potential charges should be directed to the City of Laurens Police Department.

This juvenile has been located and found safe.

The Laurens Police Department is seeking assistance in locating a missing/runaway juvenile. If you see the juvenile, please call the Laurens Dispatch Center at (864-984-2523) or call 911 to report the juvenile.

This post will be updated once the juvenile is located and returns home safely.

🚨 UPDATE: Lisamarie Castro Has Been Found Safe 🚨

We are happy to report that Lisamarie Castro has been located and is safe.

Thank you to everyone who shared information, spread the word, and assisted in the search. Your help and cooperation are greatly appreciated.

We are actively following up on several leads received regarding Lisamarie Castro. Detectives have been reviewing video footage and continuing to pursue information provided by the community.

If you live in or around Green St., Jennings St., Price St., Duckett St., Jersey St., Sanders St., or Cemetery St. and have any digital surveillance recordings from February 13 around 8pm through February 14 3am, please contact the police department as soon as possible. Your footage — no matter how small it may seem — could be critical.

We sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support and all the tips coming in through Crime Stoppers, Facebook Messenger, and direct calls to the police department.
