The risk of infection in North Carolina remains extremely low.

NCDHHS is closely monitoring the recent hantavirus outbreak connected to the M/V Hondius and remains in communication with federal, state, and local health partners.

At this time, there are no cases of hantavirus in North Carolina and the risk to the public remains extremely low.

Public health officials will continue monitoring the situation and supporting any necessary response efforts to help protect the health and well being of North Carolinians.

April is Rabies Awareness Month 🐾
Make sure your pets are protected and up to date on their vaccinations!

Did you know?
In North Carolina, pets over four months of age are required by law to be vaccinated against rabies and wear a collar with their vaccination tag at all times.
