We want you to be aware of a great news, not-so-great news, and AMAZING news situation that will impact our normal Back to School festivities later this summer.
Great news: renovations and construction are well under way at Community High School, and it looks like the Phase 2 expansion of our award-winning campus from a 1,500-student capacity up to a 2,100-student capacity will be completed on time AND in-budget. This new expansion includes more than doubling the parking spaces in the front of the building, doubling the size of the cafeteria, doubling the seating capacity in the competition gym, adding a 5A-capacity weight room and expanding locker rooms, and dozens of added classrooms. We cannot wait for this project to complete in Fall 2027!
Not so great news: due to all of the construction at our CHS campus, we will not be able to host the district-wide Back to School Bash this year.
Amazing News: We are presented with an opportunity to allow our campuses to shine with their own campus-level parties, rolling their annual Meet-the-Teacher and Schedule Pickup events into one-stop-shops for those schools. You'll be able to pick up school supplies, meet your campus administrators, connect with teachers, go over 2026-27 class schedules, and so much more!
With these changes underway, we will be working with our community partners such as food banks, local churches, and cities to make sure their normal support systems are still accessible across the district. Stay tuned for more information, and put these dates on your calendar now!
