🚨 14 LIVES SAVED TODAY. 🚨

Today, 14 animals got a second chance because of our transport program, our incredible rescue partners, and one very dedicated shelter director who was willing to hit the road at 3 AM for a 7-hour drive to get them where they needed to go. ❤️

But saving lives comes with a cost.

Last week, we were $30 short of covering our transport expenses. This week, we’re hoping to raise enough to break even so we can keep our transport account from slowly being depleted.

Here’s the reality: Rescue transfers make up approximately ¾ of our positive outcomes. For the discarded, unwanted and homeless animals of Hart & Franklin Counties, rescue transport is one of their primary lifelines.

When we have rescue partners willing to take them, we need the funds to get them there. Every transport means more kennel space, more opportunities to say YES, and most importantly—more lives saved.

We are completely OUT of puppy food and very low on dry kitten food. 🐶🐱

🐾🐾🪨 SAY HELLO TO FRED FLINTSTONE! 🪨🐾

YABBA DABBA DOOOO! 🎉 Meet Fred Flintstone — a handsome 1-year-old Alaskan Malamute who is currently wondering why his life has turned into one very long episode of “Where Is My Family?” 😂💔

Fred came to the shelter as a stray after a very kind person found him and wanted to make sure this big, beautiful boy was safe and cared for. ❤️ They did exactly what they should have done… they got Fred somewhere safe.

But sadly, that was 75 DAYS AGO. 😭

Seventy-five.

Days.

Fred would like to formally file a complaint with management. 😂

Because while he appreciates the snacks, the attention, and his shelter friends, he would much rather be in a HOME. He’s ready for a couch, a yard, a family, and someone who will tell him how handsome he is approximately 900 times a day. 🥹🐾

Fred is only 1 year old, which means he still has plenty of goofy young-dog energy! And this sweet boy LOVES attention. If you’re nearby, Fred wants to know what you’re doing. If you sit down, Fred would like to be involved. If you’re giving affection, Fred would like to be first in line, please and thank you. 😂❤️

He absolutely loves being around people and has so much love to give. Behind that big fluffy Malamute exterior is a boy who just wants someone to choose him.

And Fred has been getting himself READY for that forever home!

It’s hard not to wonder what Fred thinks after 75 days. Does he wonder why nobody has come for him? Does he wonder when he gets to leave? Does he know that somewhere out there could be the family he’s been waiting for? 💔

We just know this…

Fred shouldn’t have to spend another 75 days waiting.

He deserves to wake up every morning knowing he belongs somewhere. He deserves a family who will love his giant fluffy self, spoil him rotten, and make him forget all about his days behind a kennel door. ❤️

So if you’ve been looking for a big, goofy, handsome boy with a heart just as big as his paws…

This week, 15 precious lives got their Golden Ticket. 🎫

Fifteen dogs who might otherwise have faced an uncertain future are now on their way to partner rescues in larger areas—where loving families are waiting to welcome them home. Because of our transport program, these animals are leaving the shelter behind and stepping into the lives they deserve. 🙌🏻

This is how many unwanted animals of Hart and Franklin counties get a second chance. It’s the primary pathway from overcrowded kennels to warm laps, soft beds, and forever families. And every single one of those journeys comes with a real cost.

Each animal receives multiple vaccines, dewormer, flea and heartworm prevention, weeks of food, enrichment, and daily care. Add electricity, water, health certificates, vet exams, spay/neuter surgeries for some, gas for the shelter van, crates, cleaning supplies, and ongoing van upkeep… and the total adds up quickly. We don’t receive adoption fees from transported animals to help offset these expenses. We do it anyway—because this is what saves lives.

We can’t keep giving discarded animals this life-changing opportunity without you.

Say hello to Clownfish! 🐠😂

This handsome boy was found near Nancy Drive in Hartwell and brought in as a stray. He is a male, has no microchip, and the good news is… he is super friendly! 💙

We’ve given him the name Clownfish for now, but we’re hoping his family is out there looking for him!

🀄️✨ We came, we saw, we Mahj’d! ✨🀄️

We sipped, snacked, played, and raised funds at our very first Mahjong Night! 💕🐾

A huge MAHJONG thank you to everyone who came out to Southern Origin Meadery, grabbed a rack, shuffled those tiles, and helped us make a difference for the homeless animals of Hart & Franklin counties! 🐶🐱

With plenty of “Bams,” “Craks,” “Dots,” and maybe a few “Mahjongs!” called throughout the night, we had an absolute blast—and together, we raised OVER $500! 🎉

🍯 Thank you to Southern Origin Meadery for hosting us and keeping the drinks flowing!
🍪 And a big thank you to Kim in the Kitchen for keeping our players happily snacking between hands!

Most importantly, every tile played helped a homeless animal. 🐾❤️

We’re calling this first night a WINNER, WINNER, MAHJONG DINNER! 🀄️🎉
