Today, we honor the incredible bravery, courage, and brotherhood of three firefighters. On 5/26/19, Chief Harper and Captain Whetstone became trapped during a dangerous basement fire after the stairway collapsed beneath them. In the face of extreme heat, smoke, and uncertainty, they continued to fight for survival until Assistant Chief Jay made the courageous decision to stay with his brothers at the top of landing and reach down for them until bringing them to safety.

This incident is a powerful reminder of the risks firefighters face every time the alarm sounds. It also shows the unbreakable bond shared between brothers and sisters in the fire service — a commitment to never leave one another behind.

We are beyond grateful for the strength, determination, and heroism displayed by all involved. Please continue to keep these firefighters, their families, and all first responders in your thoughts and prayers.

Courage under fire. Brotherhood beyond measure. Heroes among us. 🚒

This Morning Chief Mark Jay Jr, Assistant Chief Mike Harper Sr, Batt. Chief Bob Harper, Capt Josh Whetstone and Firefighter Keith Savior attended Wellness Day at Lawnside School. A/C Mike Harper Sr. spoke to the children about the importance of fire safety and even gave them homework assignment over the holiday weekend to ask their parents if their smoke detectors work and where are they located in their homes. Chief Mark Jay Jr and Capt Josh Whetstone demonstrated putting on their turn out gear while the children asked questions. Each child received a plastic fire helmet and saw the firetruck. A fun day was had!!! A big Thank You to Ms. Cobia for the invitation and our Fire Marshal Nick Dalonzo for the fire helmets.
