Through August 23, participants can purchase $15 worth of new school supplies from the below supply list below and bring them to Lawrence Municipal Court along with the receipt to get $50 credited towards a traffic infraction and/or parking fines.

Congratulations to Andrew who was honored today for completing the Douglas County Drug Treatment Court program. 🎉

A graduation ceremony was held at the Courthouse to recognize his achievements. Andrew said he greatly appreciated “a second chance and all of the support” that he has received. He described the program as “life-saving.” He is pictured with Judge Mark Simpson, who presides over Drug Court, and the rest of the Drug Treatment Court program team.

Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez announced that on Friday, September 20, 2024, a jury found Servando Martinez Vasquez, 24, guilty of criminal threat, a felony crime of domestic violence.

Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez announced that on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 a jury found Eliu Sanchez, 39, guilty of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, a person felony, and guilty of reckless driving, a misdemeanor.

“Fleeing a police officer represents a huge threat to the public’s safety. While nobody was injured during this incident, driving recklessly to avoid a traffic stop endangers everyone on the roads.” District Attorney Suzanne Valdez
