I spy a foxes den! We need your help in locating a foster fox den for a patient that we have. This little guy was attacked by a predator and found in an area without a den when he was smaller. His wounds have since healed and he needs a foster family. Vixens (female foxes) are notorious for accepting kits that aren't there own because foxes are very social. The den must be on the Kansas side and the fox kits must be close to the same size. Please email [email protected] with information including address and phone number of landowner. We're excited to get this little guy settled in with his own family. UPDATE! THE FOX KIT HAS BEEN FOSTERED INTO ANOTHER DEN AND DOING GREAT! TURNING OFF NOTIFICATIONS FOR THIS POST NOW. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOU THAT RESPONDED. IT TAKES A TEAM OF INDIVIDUALS TO GET EVERYTHING ACCOMPLISHED THAT WE DO!

We need your help! This is one of the worst cases of sarcoptic mange that we have seen. This poor little fox not only has secondary bacterial infections but has pressure sores on her extremities with bone showing. Today, thanks to Prairie Village animal control she is going to have a second chance at life. Severely emaciated with secondary infection she was barely alive when first brought in. IV fluids, food and medication for the mange were given immediately. Tonight she is sitting up, comfortable and managed to eat her supper. She has a long way to go before she is healed and out of the woods or should I say back to the woods? We are taking it slow because we do not know if she has any type of organ damage from the severe starvation. If you would like to help support this fox please donate to Operation Wildlife via our PayPal account. Sarcoptic mange is a zoonotic disease so she is quarantined and extra precautions will be taken to protect volunteers from getting the mange also. We wear protective disposable clothing to keep ourselves from contracting it. .paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/21124

The ring-necked snake or ringneck snake, is a harmless species of colubrid snake found throughout much of the United States, central Mexico, and southeastern Canada. Ring-necked snakes are secretive, nocturnal snakes, so are rarely seen during the day time. They are slightly venomous, but their nonaggressive nature and small, rear-facing fangs pose little threat to humans who wish to handle them. They are best known for their unique defense posture of curling up their tails, exposing their bright red-orange posterior, ventral surface when threatened.

Got a call about a possible raccoon possibly inside of a house yesterday. At one point it fell through the ceiling and then went into nearly every room causing havoc. After doing a complete inspection inside we came to the conclusion that it made its way back outside. Not only did it do a large amount of inside it also damaged the roof and soffit.
This morning we did capture the culprit.

The rarest land mammal in North America—the black-footed ferret—relies almost solely on prairie dogs for sustenance. A ranch along the eastern tier of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in Wyoming is the place where ferrets were "rediscovered" brought back from the dead, given a second chance after they were written off as extinct. Think about that.

Today, the Bureau of Land Management plays a crucial role in the ongoing conservation of ferrets which is tied to having healthy colonies of prairie dogs.....

Fun fact about BLM: More than 3,000 species of wildlife occur on BLM’s more than 245 million acres in 23 states, dispersed over some of the nation’s most ecologically diverse and essential habitat. In fact, the BLM manages more wildlife habitat than any other Federal or state agency. Black-footed ferret photo courtesy Craig Miller/BLM

Setting up on possible squirrels today. They made easy work of someone else's work. We set up a couple traps at 530pm and got a call at 8 saying we have it in the trap!
