Search is another critical fireground task performed at every fire. To perform a timely search, it takes a minimum of a team of two firefighters per floor of a small house. This is done in an unfamiliar building, low to no visibility and high heat.

Emergencies happen at all times of the day, and so does training. Our crews got in some great practice in pumping water so they can be prepared to respond to fires in areas of the county with limited water supply.

This past weekend, Shawnee Heights Fire District crews responded to multiple emergencies where family members immediately began CPR before firefighters arrived. Their quick actions made a difference and helped save the lives of their loved ones.

These calls are a powerful reminder that our community is often the first link in the chain of survival. When CPR is started right away, it gives someone their best chance until emergency crews can take over.

Thank you to those who stepped up when it mattered most!!!

Q:How many people do you need to take the hose into a house fire?
A: 2 (minimum)+ the engineer at the pump panel.
Every assigned task inside a house fire is carried out by a team of at least two. 3-4 on a team gets the task done that much faster. Fire attack, search, etc.

Here two of our firefighters work together at the tip of the nozzle. Another feeding them hose plus the engineer at the truck are part of getting the first water on the fire.
