We are so grateful for Alyse, a student at The University of Kansas, whose heart for others is making an impact in our community.

Inspired by a similar project she organized back home in Nebraska, Alyse brought together family and friends to create and donate 100 hygiene kits for our shelter guests. She even took the time to connect with us beforehand to make sure every kit was thoughtfully tailored to our guests’ needs!

Acts of kindness like Alyse’s help us create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for the people we serve each day. Thank you, Alyse, for your generosity, compassion, and dedication to helping others! 💙

We are incredibly grateful to Hanes for their generous donation of 1,000 pairs of socks through the Hanes for Good Homeless Support partnership!

Their generous contribution will help provide warmth, comfort, and dignity to people experiencing hardship in our community. Something as simple as a clean, quality pair of socks can make a meaningful difference, and thanks to Hanes’ generosity, we’re able to get these essentials directly into the hands of those who need them most!

Partnerships like this one make a real difference in the lives of the people we serve - and we're proud to be part of the family in 2026. Thank you, Hanes, for supporting our neighbors in need! 💙

Behind every number in this graphic is a real person - a family with a safe place to sleep, someone who didn't go to bed hungry, someone who now has a key to a place they can call home.

Our community has made all of this possible so far this year. Every meal served, every bed filled, every door opened to someone in need represents the power of showing up for one another.

These numbers aren't just statistics. They are lives changed and hope restored. Here's to every single person who has helped us make an impact in our community! 💙

Every meal served, every conversation shared, every warm bed provided at LCS is made possible by people who care - our volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners. Their dedication and compassion turn our shelter into a place of safety, comfort, and hope.

Even small acts of kindness create ripples of hope that reach far beyond our walls. Together, we’re not just offering shelter - we’re building a community where everyone matters, a place where people can rest, recover, and take steps toward a better future. Thank you for being part of our community that cares! 💙

🌟 Why does supporting LCS matter to you? Share your thoughts with us!

At Lawrence Community Shelter, we are reminded every day that community support is what makes hope and healing possible. Whether it's a warm meal, a safe place to sleep, access to case management, or simply kindness - every act of support helps change a life.

But behind every donation, every volunteer hour, and every partnership is a story. Your story.

We want to hear from you. Why does supporting the shelter matter to you? Is it a personal experience? A belief in second chances? A desire to strengthen your community? Or simply the hope that everyone deserves safety, dignity, and stability?

Please share your thoughts in the comments or send us a message. Your perspective may inspire someone else to get involved, give, or learn more about the work being done at LCS every day. Thank you for standing with us and for being part of a community that believes in hope, dignity, and change! 💙

Recently we had the opportunity to talk with Ryan, a guest at LCS, who shares a special bond with his dog, Canilla. He describes her as more than just a pet - she is his emotional support, his companion, and his soul mate. 🐾

Ryan shared how grateful he is that LCS is a pet friendly shelter, saying he truly does not know what he would do without Canilla. He explained that she seems to always know when he is feeling upset and has a unique way of helping calm his anxiety. In his words, she has a beautiful spirit.

Canilla recently celebrated her 8th birthday, and Ryan says his favorite thing to do is take her to the park, where they can spend time together and enjoy the simple moments.

Stories like Ryan and Canilla’s remind us how powerful the bond between people and their pets can be. Thank you for supporting our mission to provide shelter, healing and hope for all our guests - even our four-legged ones. And please join us in wishing Canilla a Happy 8th Birthday! 💙

We see a lot of great things at LCS, and this is one of our recent favorites! Thank you so much to Homefix Lawrence (the happy couple!) for sharing your wedding feast with our guests, and congratulations on your beautiful new chapter together! 💙🎉

Texas Roadhouse for our wedding. We ended up with lots of leftovers, we sent them to the shelter. Amazing wedding !
