Today, the Lawrence Fire Department stood alongside our brothers and sisters from the Boston Fire Department, as well as firefighters from Methuen, Haverhill, Andover, and North Andover, to honor the life and sacrifice of Firefighter Robert “BK” Kilduff, Jr.

The fire service is built on brotherhood, and when one department grieves, we all grieve. The outpouring of support from departments across the region is a testament to the strength of the firefighting family and the bonds that unite us.

We continue to keep Firefighter Kilduff’s children, family, friends, and the members of the Boston Fire Department in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Brother. Your service, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

It was a busy night across the Merrimack Valley as Lawrence Engine 7 and Ladder 4 were returning from a fire in Andover when Lawrence Fire Department companies were dispatched to a fire on Floral Street.

Crews made a quick knockdown utilizing a transitional attack, with all companies engaged in operations. Methuen Fire assisted at the scene, while the Dracut pump, Reading pump, and Lowell ladder provided coverage at Central. EMS, Rehab 5, the Red Cross, and the Building Department were also on scene assisting residents and firefighters throughout the incident.

Great teamwork by all agencies involved.

Today, Lawrence Firefighters battled a challenging fire in a three-story building on Marble Avenue under extremely hot and windy conditions. Companies arrived to heavy smoke and fire showing and immediately initiated an aggressive interior attack to bring the fire under control.

This incident required a tremendous team effort. All Lawrence companies operated on scene alongside mutual aid partners from Andover, Methuen, and Lowell. While crews were engaged at the structure fire, Dracut, North Andover, Haverhill pumpers, and the Salem Tower Ladder provided vital station coverage to protect the City of Lawrence.

We also want to thank Mayor Brian DePeña for stopping by the scene to check on displaced residents and firefighters throughout the incident. Additional thanks to Inspectional Services, Community Development, DPW, the Red Cross, and Heal Lawrence for assisting the members of our community affected by this fire.

Incidents like this are a reminder that it truly takes a team effort. Thank you to everyone involved for their professionalism, support, and dedication to the City of Lawrence.

It's getting hot in here! If you're breaking out the air conditioner to beat the heat, remember that ACs and other heavy appliances should always be plugged directly into a wall outlet -- not an extension cord or power strip. More electrical safety tips: https://ow.ly/TFJg50SBOW6
