Based on the flagship Chelsea school, Phoenix Charter Academy, Phoenix Academy Lawrence (PAL) is a high school serving students who want a college-preparatory education from a diploma-granting school. In winter 2012, Phoenix Charter Academy in Chelsea was approached by Jeff Riley, the Superintendent/Receiver of the Lawrence Public Schools to enter into a partnership to serve the youth of Lawrence.

After a few months of busy preparation, PAL will open its doors to students on August 27, 2012 as the first ever in-district high school operated by a charter network. PAL serves over 150 students, providing them with rigorous academics, like AP courses, and relentless support, like childcare for parenting students and frequent phone calls to parents or adult supporters. At full capacity, up to 250 students will be put on the path to college through the work of PAL teachers and staff.

At Phoenix Lawrence, our Early College Program continues to create life-changing opportunities for our scholars! 🎓🔥

Over the last two years:
✨ 29 students have completed at least ONE college course
✨ Most of those scholars completed multiple courses — with some completing as many as SIX college classes during that time
✨ And for the FIRST TIME EVER, Phoenix Lawrence proudly celebrated two students earning their Associate’s Degree before high school graduation through the DUET program at SNHU!

These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work, determination, and resilience of our scholars, as well as the unwavering support from our staff, families, and community partners. At Phoenix Lawrence, we believe in preparing students not just for graduation, but for success beyond it.

A special shout out to all of the families who showed up to celebrate and support our scholars — your encouragement and presence mean everything! 💙

And a huge thank you to Senator Pavel Payano for his continued support of our students and school community. We truly appreciate your commitment to helping create opportunities for our scholars to thrive.

From our seniors putting the finishing touches on their journey, to scholars across all grades completing units and reaching important milestones, the dedication and hard work on display has been truly inspiring. 📚✨

At Phoenix Academy, support goes far beyond the classroom.

In this moment, one of our staff members took the time to help a scholar who was feeling nervous about presenting. Instead of pushing through the anxiety, they found a space to talk, prepare, and work through those nerves together.

A huge shoutout to Mr. Scott for always finding ways to make our scholars feel comfortable, supported, and confident. This is what makes Phoenix such a special place — we recognize that every student’s needs are different, and we are committed to going above and beyond to meet them where they are.

Sometimes support doesn’t look traditional, but that doesn’t make it any less important. Moments like these remind us that care, patience, and understanding can make all the difference.

Last week, we celebrated — our incredible teachers and staff — who pour their passion, patience, and dedication into our scholars every single day. From thoughtful surprises and special moments to the overwhelming love shown throughout the week, we truly felt appreciated and supported. 💛

But one of the greatest gifts of all came from our scholars. Their kindness, hard work, positive attitudes, and daily growth continue to remind us why we do what we do. Watching our students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally has been the most rewarding feeling. On Friday, April 10th, Phoenix scholar Yadiel stepped into the role of a legislator at Student Government Day—debating a House Bill that would set guidelines around the usage of A.I. in classrooms. He courageously stood on the historic podium at our statehouse and made his voice heard. From simulated hearings to real-world issues, this experience brings government to life and empowers students to lead, question, and shape the future.

Phoenix Lawrence closing out the week at SquashBusters! 🔥

Our scholars stayed active—getting in some great exercise while playing basketball, volleyball, football and even a few competitive rounds of dominoes. 🏈🏀🏐🎲 But the dedication didn’t stop there… a couple of scholars chose to keep pushing forward, putting in extra work toward their academic goals. 📚💪
