Based on the flagship Chelsea school, Phoenix Charter Academy, Phoenix Academy Lawrence (PAL) is a high school serving students who want a college-preparatory education from a diploma-granting school. In winter 2012, Phoenix Charter Academy in Chelsea was approached by Jeff Riley, the Superintendent/Receiver of the Lawrence Public Schools to enter into a partnership to serve the youth of Lawrence.

After a few months of busy preparation, PAL will open its doors to students on August 27, 2012 as the first ever in-district high school operated by a charter network. PAL serves over 150 students, providing them with rigorous academics, like AP courses, and relentless support, like childcare for parenting students and frequent phone calls to parents or adult supporters. At full capacity, up to 250 students will be put on the path to college through the work of PAL teachers and staff.

What a way to close out the school year! 🎉

Our final Community Meeting was filled with celebration, laughter, and appreciation as we recognized our scholars for finishing the year strong. The hard work, perseverance, and growth shown throughout the year were truly inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything our students have accomplished.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was our special bead-gifting tradition. Scholars and staff had the opportunity to honor someone who made a difference in their year—whether it was a teacher, peer, mentor, or fellow student.

Watching our community recognize and appreciate one another was a powerful reminder of the relationships and support that make Phoenix Academy such a special place.

And of course, we wrapped things up with one of our favorite traditions—Dunk a Teacher! A huge thank you to Ms. B and Mr. Mansfield for being such great sports and helping us end the year with plenty of smiles and laughter.

To all of our scholars, families, and staff: thank you for an incredible year. We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer. Take time to recharge your batteries, make great memories, and come back ready to make next year even better!

This special evening gives us the opportunity to celebrate our graduates, reflect on their journeys, and recognize all of the hard work, perseverance, and growth that brought them to this milestone. These are the moments we cherish and the memories that make the Phoenix Academy community so special.

As we continue to close out the school year, it has been inspiring to see so many of our scholars completing units and making steady progress toward their academic goals. Every completed assignment, assessment, and unit represents dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to growth.

We want to celebrate all of our scholars who have recently completed units, as well as those who are putting in the work each day to reach that milestone. Your effort, determination, and resilience do not go unnoticed.

Keep pushing forward, stay focused, and continue striving for greatness. The finish line is in sight, and every step you take brings you closer to your goals.

At Phoenix Lawrence, our Early College Program continues to create life-changing opportunities for our scholars! 🎓🔥

Over the last two years:
✨ 29 students have completed at least ONE college course
✨ Most of those scholars completed multiple courses — with some completing as many as SIX college classes during that time
✨ And for the FIRST TIME EVER, Phoenix Lawrence proudly celebrated two students earning their Associate’s Degree before high school graduation through the DUET program at SNHU!

These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work, determination, and resilience of our scholars, as well as the unwavering support from our staff, families, and community partners. At Phoenix Lawrence, we believe in preparing students not just for graduation, but for success beyond it.

A special shout out to all of the families who showed up to celebrate and support our scholars — your encouragement and presence mean everything! 💙

From our seniors putting the finishing touches on their journey, to scholars across all grades completing units and reaching important milestones, the dedication and hard work on display has been truly inspiring. 📚✨

At Phoenix Academy, support goes far beyond the classroom.

In this moment, one of our staff members took the time to help a scholar who was feeling nervous about presenting. Instead of pushing through the anxiety, they found a space to talk, prepare, and work through those nerves together.

A huge shoutout to Mr. Scott for always finding ways to make our scholars feel comfortable, supported, and confident. This is what makes Phoenix such a special place — we recognize that every student’s needs are different, and we are committed to going above and beyond to meet them where they are.

Sometimes support doesn’t look traditional, but that doesn’t make it any less important. Moments like these remind us that care, patience, and understanding can make all the difference.

We’re honored to welcome Pavel Payano to our Early College Recognition Ceremony! We’re looking forward to this celebration next week!

Senator Payano has been a strong advocate for the growth of our Early College program at Phoenix Charter Academy, and his support continues to create meaningful opportunities for our scholars.

At Phoenix, we know that student success does not happen alone — it truly takes a village. From educators and families to community leaders and partners, our scholars thrive because they are surrounded by people who believe in their potential and invest in their future.
