Basic Reading and Math Skills: This program will teach basic reading and math skills and strategies essential in improving the participant’s knowledge base. Identified individual learning needs will determine the skills and strategies to be covered. Skill Development for Employment: This program integrates reading, math, critical thinking and problem-solving competencies necessary for employment through the Kansas Workforce Win Career Readiness Courseware and resulting in a Kansas WorkReady Certificate. GED Preparation: Math, reading, writing, social studies and science classes, vital for successful completion of the GED exam, are provided to students. English as a Second Language: This program integrates English language listening, speaking, writing and reading instruction. Fall and spring semester classes are offered
The Lawrence Diploma Completion Program provides the opportunity for students to complete requirements for a high school diploma. Students who enroll receive a transcript review by high school counselors to determine how many credits are needed to complete requirements to receive a high school diploma. Upon completing the necessary credits, students receive a Lawrence Free State High or Lawrence High School diploma, depending on which school they previously attended or the attendance center boundary where they currently reside. Students also receive a completed transcript and grade point average.
