SECC: Small Hands, Big Plans! A tuition program is also available for ALL 4 year olds (4 by Aug 1st) for $200 per month.

The Anderson County Preschool Program, located at the Early Childhood Center, provides developmentally appropriate, state-recognized instruction provided by highly trained, certified teachers and support staff. The program is available for FREE to 3 and 4 year old children exhibiting a state-recognized disability or delay and also for 4 year old children (4 by Aug 1st) whose family is eligible for

free/reduced lunch benefits. The program operates Tuesday through Friday and has both AM (8:00AM to 11:00AM) and PM (12:00PM to 3:00PM) sessions with bus transportation provided both to and from school. A preschool screening is required prior to enrollment.. Please call ECC at 839-2504 to schedule your child's screening. We look forward to providing your child with an enriching and rewarding preschool experience. The SECC also houses 8 of the district's kindergarten classrooms. For many students, kindergarten lays the foundation for their school career. We provide opportunities for learning that are tailored to meet student’s individual needs. Teachers at ECC realize that not every student learns the same way at the same time, so we engage them in activities that are designed for their specific learning styles. We use a variety of instructional practices to develop our daily schedules. The use of research-based curriculum ensures that we are covering the information necessary for our students to flourish. Each student attends classes in music, art, library, and physical education. With our full day kindergarten program, we lay the groundwork for a successful future. This distinction was awarded to SECC after a series of interviews and site visits by Judy Halesek, the Read to Achieve Coordinator, and Pamela Pickens, the Math Achievement Fund Coordinator, both from the Division of Learning Services. SECC will be featured on the Best Practices link on the KDE website allowing other schools to get information about their effective teaching and intervention practices.

Our kindergarten students have been learning how to take care of books, select books just for themselves, and how to check books out to take home with Ms. Emily in library class.
