Firemen aren’t the only ones who save cats in distress! Today, Chief Taylor responded to a call for service for some out of town guests. Their Maine C**n locked them out of their car in the hotel parking lot! Chief Taylor was able to open their vehicle and get them on their way! Lawrenceburg Fire and Rescue y’all can’t always be the heroes! Haha!

Great information about E-Bikes!

E-BIKE SAFETY, RIDE SMART, RIDE SAFE

E-bikes are a great way to get around town, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time with friends. They also come with the same responsibility as any other vehicle on the road.

Recently, the city has seen an increase in complaints involving riders traveling in the middle of the roadway, failing to move for traffic, and not paying attention to approaching emergency vehicles. We have also responded to incidents involving lithium ion batteries. A few simple safety habits can help prevent injuries and fires.

Here are a few reminders from the Lawrenceburg Fire Department.

• Wear a properly fitted helmet every time you ride. A helmet can significantly reduce the risk of serious head injuries in a crash.

• Ride with traffic, stay as far to the right as it is safe to do so, and never intentionally block the roadway. Drivers should be able to safely pass when conditions allow.

• Stay alert. Avoid headphones or anything that prevents you from hearing traffic, horns, or emergency sirens. If you hear or see an emergency vehicle, move safely out of the way.

• Obey all traffic signs and signals. E bike riders have the same responsibility to follow the rules of the road as everyone else.

• Charge lithium ion batteries safely. Use only the charger recommended by the manufacturer. Charge on a hard, non combustible surface, away from exits and anything that can burn. Never charge while you are sleeping or leave a battery charging unattended. If a battery becomes hot, swells, smokes, or is damaged, stop using it immediately.

Parents, please take a few minutes to talk with your children about riding safely. A conversation today could prevent a serious injury tomorrow.

Our goal is simple. We want every rider to enjoy their e-bike and return home safely after every ride. By riding responsibly and respecting others on the road, we can help keep Lawrenceburg’s streets safe for riders, pedestrians, motorists, and emergency responders.
