The Lawrenceburg Lions Club has refreshed our eyeglass collection boxes around town at Smith Tax & Business Service and Truist Bank.

We also added two brand-new locations to make donating even easier:

•Lawrence County Public Library
•Lawrence County Administration Building

🏆 CHAMPIONS ON AND OFF THE FIELD! 🏆

We had a fantastic meeting this week featuring Lions Baseball Coach Russ Moore and Coach Charlie Loyd!

Coach Russ spoke to our club about the incredible season of our Lions-sponsored team, who took home the Lawrenceburg Cal Ripken Major Division Championship! But as Coach Russ beautifully shared, it’s about so much more than the trophy. Baseball teaches our youth vital life lessons, builds character, and creates lifelong memories for young boys and girls in our community.

We were also honored to receive a heartfelt thank you from the coaches for the Lions Club's many years of team sponsorship. Supporting our youth is at the very heart of what we do!

Thank you, Coach Russ and Coach Charlie, for your leadership, dedication, and for inspiring the next generation. 🦁⚾️

👓 Clearer Reading for Our Community! 📚

The Lawrenceburg Lions Club is proud to partner with the Lawrence County Public Library!

We donated a supply of reading glasses to help everyone enjoy their favorite books with ease. If you need extra help reading the fine print while browsing, just ask the library staff at the front desk! 🦁

🍔 Loretto Lions Club Hamburger Steak Supper

Join us on Saturday, August 1st at the Loretto Civic Center for one of our favorite community traditions!

Enjoy a delicious hamburger steak, fries, salad, and drink for just $15. Dine in with friends or grab a takeout meal to go. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time from a Club member, or pay at the door.

🦁 Lawrenceburg Lions Club Commences the New Year under New Leadership 🦁

The Lawrenceburg Lions Club recently held its inaugural meeting of the new year, led by our newly installed President, King Lion Brian Shaw. The meeting provided a comprehensive overview of our strategic initiatives and operational plans for the upcoming year.

Key highlights from the meeting include:

Expanded Community Presence: In addition to maintaining our traditional presence with our food booth at regularly scheduled events, the Club is actively expanding its outreach to participate in numerous other community events this year.

Lifetime Membership Honors: The Club had the distinct privilege of recognizing two exemplary members, Bill and Melinda Sevier, for their enduring dedication. They have been officially honored as Lifetime Members of Lions Club International.

Club Fellowship: As is tradition, the meeting concluded with laughter that always follows the humor that is provided by our valued member, Bobby Belew.

What significance does July 1 hold for Lions? It denotes the beginning of a new year with new participants. The annual installation event was held at our own facility, the Lions Activity Center, serving as an ideal location with exceptional food provided by The Poplar House. In conjunction with the induction of new leaders, Lions were recognized for their distinguished service. Our club expresses gratitude to the community for their ongoing support.

Helen Keller Day

Today, we honor the extraordinary legacy of Helen Keller, whose birthday is commemorated every year on June 27.

Helen Keller was the first deafblind person to earn a university degree. With remarkable determination, resilience, and the unwavering support of her teacher, Anne Sullivan, she showed the world that no obstacle is too great when hope and opportunity come together.

For Lions, her legacy holds a very special place. In 1925, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become the “Knights of the Blind.” That call to action forever shaped our history and inspired generations of Lions to protect sight, prevent blindness, recycle eyeglasses, support eye care, and bring hope to millions of people around the world.

Nearly a century later, her words continue to inspire our service every day.

Together, let’s continue to serve, inspire, and change the world. 💙💛
