Last night, crews were dispatched to a reported Bobcat equipment fire. Due to challenging terrain and access issues, our fire apparatus were unable to reach the location of the fire.

Thinking outside the box, Deputy Chief Jimmy Robinson utilized the property owner’s excavator to scoop water from a nearby pond while firefighters deployed our UTV equipped with a 100-gallon water tank and pump. Working together, crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control and fully extinguish it.

This incident highlights the importance of adaptability, teamwork, and having specialized equipment available for situations where traditional apparatus cannot access the scene. Great work by all personnel involved and thank you to the property owner for assisting our crews. 🚒💪

Rescue Training Tonight

Members of the rescue team conducted high-angle rescue training this evening, focusing on Stokes basket rigging and patient packaging techniques.

The scenario challenged crews to safely convert the rigging from an under-basket configuration to an over-basket configuration midway through the rescue operation. This evolution required teamwork, communication, and a thorough understanding of rope rescue systems to ensure the patient remained secure throughout the transition.

Training like this helps prepare our members for complex rescue situations where conditions can change rapidly and adaptability is critical to a successful outcome. Great work by everyone involved in continuing to sharpen their skills and enhance our rescue capabilities. 🚒🧗‍♂️🪢
