A concerned parent sent this to me from Gwinnett County. Are you really aware what is happening in schools?
**GCPS ALERT #1, 2 & 3**
Starting today and until the May 24th school board election I will be posting periodic alerts involving Calvin Jerome Watts and Gwinnett County Public Schools. Whether you have GCPS students or not, you need to be attentive. I am doing this as I believe we currently have the greatest school system in Georgia, but we need to wake up! Our current Superintendent and Board are sending us in the wrong direction. It is so important for DISTRICT 4 voters to vote in Dr. Alexis Williams on May 24th.
Alert #1: "Not my idea" - MGT Consulting (previously used by Watts in Kent Washington) was hired to assess the districts organizational structure. They found that the leadership structure was disjointed, redundant and too big. Consulting groups are important, but why did he choose MGT? Maybe because they have ties to organizations like ERDI, which Watts profited from. If he wanted an unbiased assessment, Watts should have hired a consultant he didn't have ties to. It's no secret though, Watts just wanted a reason to get rid of people and hire his previous chiefs in Kent Washington.
**And one was already announced last week - Melissa Laramie (Chief Communications Officer) from.....you know it....Kent Washington. Since we don't have anyone qualified in our current employees who serve 180,000 students, we will just hire Laramie, who only dealt with 25K students. And her social media posts...we'll save that for another day.
**And look for the next two hires to be....DeNelle West & Jewelle Harmon from...you guessed it....Kent Washington. GCPS leadership team you need to be on alert!
ALERT #2: Watts strategy....
We have been in communication with those close to the disaster in Kent Washington. They sent us the following link, which is the exact strategy he took in Kent and what he is doing now in GCPS.
Should give you chills.

ALERT #3: NaKia Towns, coming to your town soon...
This is Watts Deputy Superintendent. That's the formal title for "disrupter". She was previously Deputy Superintentent in Hamilton County TN. Prior to Hamilton County, Towns was assistant commissioner, division of data and research, at the Tennessee Department of Education. At the department, she served on the executive leadership team and helped set the strategic direction for pre-K through 12 education policy by developing the state’s highly regarded plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act.
**Every Student Succeeds Act? Interesting. So now we know who is going to carry out the EQUITY plan.
**NAKIA HAS ALREADY BEEN VOCAL THAT THEY WILL MOVE RESOURCES (aka teachers & money) FROM HIGHER ACHIEVING SCHOOLS TO LOWER ACHIEVING SCHOOLS. So yes, that means that real estate agents will no longer have to search for "good schools" as we will all be the same. That also means that your childs class size will dramatically increase if they are at a performing school.
Should billionairesdictate what happens to our children just because they have the money? What will the Broad Foundation-trained administrators bring to TPS? We’ll see.
