Last night at 2119 hrs. L.H.S. RESCUE 1, was dispatched along with Lawence-Allison Fire, Lawrence County EMS, Bridgeport Fire, Lawence County EMA, Lawrence County Sheriffs Dept., Lawrenceville P.D. and Illinois State Police to a two vehicle MVA at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Country Club Road, involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle. 2 helicopters were requested from Arch Air Medical and AirLife Air Medical. RES1CUE assisted in Scene Illumination as well as Landing Zone Operations. Crews operated for a little over 3 hours and were back in service at 0031 hrs. RESCUE 1's light tower proved to be very beneficial while aiding in operations.

Today, Fire 1 got their gear issued and learned how to put it all together and how to put it on. As we start our Chapter 1 lecture over - The Fire Service Organization and Orientation, we will continue to drill on our donning and doffing skills.

L.H.S. Fire Science Haz-Mat class, begins their study in the first chapter covering Regulations, Standards and Laws. Extremely boring, but very beneficial information. We covered laws such as CERCLA, SARA, HazWopper, and LEPC's. We reviewed Superfund Site case studies over the Niagra Falls NY, Chemical Waste dump site as well as our own Superfund Site that was once the Texaco/Indian Oil Refinery.

Rest in Peace to one of the two men who sparked so many careers(volunteer and career) in the field of Fire and Emergency Medical Services. EMERGENCY, is still a required watch in our curriculum as we talk about the inception of EMS is the Fire Service.

A Huge thank you to the Mt. Pulaski IL. Fire Department for the gracious donation of this 1995 Spartan Gladiator Heavy Rescue to the Lawrenceville High School Fire Science Program.
Continue to follow, as this truck gets outfitted to teach the next generation of Firefighters and respond in the county and MABAS Divisiin with our area departments.
