ARMED ROBBERY AT WELLSBORO ACORN

Early Friday morning, June 17, 2016, reports of an armed robbery started coming in to FNN.

As of 10AM FNN was able to confirm that there was an armed robbery at the Acorn Market located at 97 East Ave.

FNN has learned that the cashiers were not injured, but badly shaken.

At this time no description of the robber has been released and calls placed to the store, the main office and to police were either redirected or passed over to an answering services. (Which is very understandable as police investigate and get information together.)

Also it is unknown if police have made an arrest in this case.

Residents in Wellsboro are very shocked and concerned after hearing about the armed robbery in their beautiful and most often quiet town.

On 05/25/16, at approx. 0455 hrs, an armed robbery occurred at the Dandy Mart on SR 249 in the Village of Austinburg in Deerfield Twp, Tioga County PA. A review of video footage revealed that the actor was likely dropped off along the Austinburg Rd and walked east to the store. Once inside, he displayed a dark colored revolver and told the lone clerk to empty both cash drawers. Upon receiving the money, approx $50 - $100 in assorted bills, he told the clerk to lay on the floor and count to 10 before she got up. He then fled the store in an unknown direction. This location opens for business at 0500 hrs, so the actor was likely familiar with hours of operation. The following information was obtained from the clerk and a review of the surveillance video:

Actor: White male about 6’ in height with Hazel or Green eyes. Average built, not overweight.

Clothing: A black ski mask with a single slit type eye opening, a Blue colored coat or heavy overshirt, a thick brown belt with a plain buckle similar to a dress belt, blue jeans.

Weapon: As described by the clerk, a dark colored older revolver with a 6”-8” barrel.

A partial shoe print, likely from athletic type shoe or hikers was located in a ditch along the Austinburg Rd just up from the scene. This may or may not be related and PSP Mansfield retains photos of the print.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PSP Mansfield at 570-662-2151.
