🚨👮 NEW CHIEF, NEW COMMITTEE MEMBER! 👮🚨

We love when new people join our crazy fun camp committee — and we are excited to officially welcome Chief C. Clary and the Lawrenceville Police Department to the BCSO Public Safety Discovery Camp team! 🎉

It didn’t take long for Chief Clary to jump right in with our energetic, creative, and sometimes slightly chaotic group 🤪 — and he has already been working hard to help make this year’s camp experience both fun and meaningful for our campers.

That kind of commitment matters.

Even more exciting, Town of Lawrenceville and Lawrenceville Town Police are also helping support camp by providing tourniquets for our campers — a powerful investment in safety, preparedness, and hands-on learning.

This kind of partnership shows a real commitment to not only our camp, but to helping build safer, stronger, and more prepared communities for the future.

We are incredibly thankful for Chief Clary, the Town of Lawrenceville, and the Lawrenceville Police Department for jumping in, supporting our mission, and helping us create an experience that will leave a lasting impact on our youth.

🏫 A Special Thank You to Southside Virginia Community College 🏫

The BCSO Public Safety Discovery Camp would not be what it is without the incredible partnership and support of Southside Virginia Community College and Dr. Alfonzo Seward.

Each summer, they do far more than simply provide a place for camp — they open their doors and truly make us feel at home. For one week every year, they let us practically take over campus, and they do so with such generosity, encouragement, and support.

From the warm welcome we receive from faculty and staff, to the dedication and pride shown by the buildings and grounds staff who always go above and beyond to make sure everything is ready and welcoming, SVCC always feels like home to our campers, volunteers, and committee.

What makes this partnership even more meaningful is that it goes far beyond camp itself.

By welcoming our youth onto campus at such a young age, Southside Virginia Community College helps introduce them to the kind of environment that community colleges are all about — warm, welcoming, supportive, and full of opportunity. It gives campers the chance to see firsthand that higher education can feel approachable, encouraging, and exciting.

🍀A Heartfelt Thank You to Brunswick County 4-H 🍀

We want to extend our deepest thanks to Brunswick County, VA 4-H for the incredible partnership and support they continue to bring to the BCSO Public Safety Discovery Camp.

The impact of this partnership reaches far beyond camp week.

From the dedication and leadership of our teen volunteers to the guidance, heart, and commitment that Ms. Malyka brings to both our camp and our camp committee, Brunswick County 4-H plays such an important role in helping make this experience meaningful for every camper.

There is something truly special about older youth leading younger youth.

When teens step into leadership roles, they do more than just help with activities — they become role models, mentors, encouragers, and friends. They help create an environment where younger campers feel supported, inspired, and excited to learn. Through those moments, heartfelt relationships are built, confidence grows, and lifelong memories are made.

That is the power of partnership.

Together, we are doing more than hosting a summer camp — we are helping build leadership skills, encouraging community preparedness, strengthening connections between youth, and creating the kind of experiences that can lead to lifelong friendships and future service to the community.

The 2026 BCSO Public Safety Discovery Camp has reached capacity with 72 campers registered..in 46 MINUTES! 🎉

We are incredibly excited — and honestly blown away — by the support, excitement, and interest in this year’s camp. Thank you to everyone who registered, shared our posts, tagged friends, and helped spread the word.
