NJCASA is committed to anti-oppression and anti-racist principles, and as such is responsible for maintaining an open and informative comments section that is safe and equitable. NJCASA reserves the right to delete or hide any content that contains any of the following in any form:
• Content that is: unlawful, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, indec

ent, lewd, harassing, racist, sexist, ableist, transphobic, or otherwise harmful, invasive of someone’s privacy, abusive, threatening, or vulgar;
• Commercial messages/advertisements;
• Content that violates a person’s confidentiality;
• Content that targets, discredits, or devalues an individual. NJCASA is not seeking to police conversations, but shares these guidelines to create a baseline community expectation for all users. Users who repeatedly violate these guidelines may be banned from commenting. Any content that NJCASA shares or likes does not equal an endorsement. NJCASA reserves the right to modify these guidelines at any time and without notice.

Yesterday, the NJCASA team participated in a team-building workshop facilitated by Grounds for Sculpture. Through engaging and collaborative activities, we leaned into our creativity and strengthened our teamwork!

In New Jersey, we are committed to providing survivors with a range of affirming resources to support them in safety planning and on their healing journey.

The Victim’s Assistance and Survivor Protection Act, also known as VASPA, provides opportunities for survivors of sexual assault and victims of stalking and cyber harassment to apply for a protective order against the person who caused them harm, without reporting to law enforcement or filing criminal charges.

Available in English, Spanish, and with ASL interpretation, our new video explains how to apply for a protective order under VASPA.

Check out NJCASA’s new community resource map!

At NJCASA, we recognize the importance of resources beyond the scope of traditional sexual violence services, as survivors may have a wide range of needs and can be supported through a variety of trauma-informed, accessible, and culturally responsive services.

In New Jersey, we are grateful to have many organizations working to support diverse communities and needs throughout the state.

As such, we are excited to share a new feature on our website, a map of community partners throughout New Jersey: https://njcasa.org/resource-map/

This interactive map aims to bridge the gap between survivors and the diverse services they may need. Organizations listed represent sectors such as housing and food security, legal advocacy, LGBTQIA+ resources, immigration resources, and more. We hope this map can serve as a tool to strengthen community connections and support survivors.

NJCASA is currently accepting new members for our Community Council!

Our Community Council helps ensure NJCASA’s work is informed by the voices, experiences, and priorities of diverse communities across New Jersey.

We’re seeking members from culturally specific, grassroots, and other community-based organizations who bring an intersectional perspective and lived and/or professional experience supporting historically marginalized communities.

Please note: Community Council seats are reserved for individuals who do not currently work at an NJCASA member program.

July is BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as the Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

This month is a special time to focus on the unique strengths and challenges that Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) face when it comes to mental health.

At NJCASA, we recognize the impacts of sexual violence on mental health and the need for access to culturally responsive mental health care and resources for all.

First declared in 1990 following the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Disability Pride Month is a time to celebrate disability as an identity, raise awareness, and promote inclusive and accessible practices.

This month and every month, we continue to advocate for the disability community and work toward creating a world that is inclusive and accessible for all.
