Eastern Virginia Agricultural Research & Extension Center posted to Virginia Small Grain Field Day

The Virginia Small Grain Field Day is just 2 weeks away!. It will begin at 9:30 am and will conclude with a BBQ lunch at noon. The focus of this year's field day will be a Q&A panel discussing Ag policy in Richmond & Washington, farm profitability, and global markets. Panelists will include Ben Rowe, Virginia Deputy Secretary of Agriculture & Forestry; Anthony Pena, National Association of Wheat Growers Policy Manager; Robert Harper, Grain Division Manager, Virginia Farm Bureau Federation; and Taylor Hubbard, Director of Government Affairs, Virginia Grain Producers Association. There will also be field tours highlighting Small Grain Research at Virginia Tech, and wheat appraisal for crop insurance.

Sheep producers across the Mid-Atlantic are invited to join Virginia Cooperative Extension Agents and Specialists for an engaging 6-part educational series designed to strengthen sheep production and management skills. Flock Foundations: A Master Shepherd series will be held on zoom on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30pm EST from January 6th to February 10th. Topics include getting started with sheep, handling and facilities, flock health, reproduction, marketing and forages. Participants can hope to gain practical strategies to improve their current or newly established sheep operations, connect with experts and fellow producers and plan on attending future spring field days across Virginia to enhance their online learning experience. Registration and course Fee of $30 is due by January 2nd.
