Black Men Unified

Black Men Unified Black Men Unified is a student association created to empower black males and create an open environment for them to express their views. Black Men Unified is a cohesive group of black males and supporters at Rider University who are banded together to create a safe environment where they have the opportunity to express their views and share their stories.

There is a focus of on empowerment and its pillars of leadership, social justice, collaboration, and service. Furthermore, the organization invests in its members through round table discussions, workshops, and inclusive events.

Here is our Black man of the week.

Corey Laramore is a junior behavioral neuroscience major with a minor in physics. He is very involved in campus as an RA. He is a part of the Unashamed Gosple Choir and participated in the X FACTOR competition last semester.

In his free time, he enjoys watching movies with his close friends.

Here is our next black male of the week, meet Junior Christian Patrick.

He majors in health care management. He is a member of the Rider Track and Field Team. He had already contributed to the first ever men’s indoor championship over Monmouth in February. He was the first ever nonsinger winner of Rider’s R-Factor competition and opened for rapper Travis Scott when he came to campus the last semester. In His free time, he enjoys reading and playing NBA 2K17.

He has been a positive influence on the rider community and we would like to thank him for his contribution to the campus.

Here is our next black male of the week, meet senior Kahlil Thomas.

Kahlil is a Filmmaking, TV & Radio major. While at Rider Kahlil is a forward on the Rider's Mens Basketball team, to which he has been a member for his entire Rider career.

Kahlil was apart of the Rider Achievement Program (RAP). Kahlil is also apart of the TRIO Program's, Student Support Services Program and because of his work, dedication and leadership as a student has been honored with an award named after him, called the Kahlil Thomas Rap Spirit Award.

As Kahlil nears the end of his collegiate athletic career, Kahlil leaves on a high note by becoming 1 of 36 players that have ever scored 1000 points at Rider University and the top 15 in career rebounding at Rider.

When Kahlil is not giving back to the community through his volunteer work with youth with basketball team, he enjoys to play Uno in his free time. Keep up the excellent work Kahlil and congratulations on graduating!

Here is our next black male of the week, meet senior Daniel Saforo.

Daniel majors in communications and minors in digital media. At Rider Daniel is a member of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. As a member of InterVarsity, Dan's responsibilities included serving as the outreach coordinator and worship leader. In those capacities Dan had to spread the Gospel on campus by inviting people to what is called a proxy station. Dan also put together a team that lead groups from 15 to 25 people in worship.

In 2014 Daniel had the honor of reciting Dr. King's "I have a dream" speech in the 2014 MLK Speech Competition at Rider.

Dan also served as an Resident Advisor for three years. Keep up the excellent work Dan!

Here is our next black male of the week; meet sophomore Dalin Hackley.

Dalin is a political science and global studies double major with a minor in journalism.

As a freshman Dalin participated in the Multicultural Student Leadership Program (MSLI).

As a sophomore Dalin served as an Orientation Staff Leader, Freshman Seminar Peer Mentor and has a job with the Office of Admissions as a tour guide.

When Dalin is not practicing or at a meet for the Track and Field Team, he enjoys reciting his original poetry at On Fire meetings and as a result had the honor of opening for poet Elizabeth Acevedo.

Dalin also enjoys listening to music and playing Madden. Keep up the excellent work Dalin!

Here is our next black male of the week, meet Graduate Student Augustine Ahiabor:

Augustine went to Montclair State University undergrad, where he majored in English and served as a Resident Advisor.

After graduating, Augustine taught middle school English for two years and a half years, where he also coordinated a mentoring program with other teachers to help young males.

Here at Rider, Augustine serves as a Residence Director for Kroner Hall while student in the masters in Business Communication program.

When Augustine is not tutoring in the Writing Lab, he enjoys writing and performing spoken word. Keep up the excellent work Augustine!

Here is our first black male of the week, meet junior Kentrell Leary a double major in computer information systems and sports management;

Kentrell was apart of the MSLI program his freshman year.

He is also a Bonner Community Scholar and served as a summer intern and New Bonner Orientation Leader this past summer, and also served as a Sophomore team leader on the Bonner freshmen service trips to West Virginia

Kentrell is a brother of Delta Sigma Pi, Professional Business Fraternity and a brother of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and is the VP for the chapter here at Rider. Keep up the excellent work Kentrell!
