The National Weather Service has placed our fire district under a tornado watch until 1 AM tomorrow morning. There is currently a line of storms moving across eastern Kansas producing severe weather, including several spotted tornadoes. This line of storms is currently projected to be here between 730 and 8 o’clock Please make sure you are aware and pay attention to changing conditions to come.

We are expecting a chance of severe weather this afternoon. While, we understand this is starting to be a common post this time of year please don’t have a “same story different day” attitude. Each storm can bring its own risk and should be treated as such. It’s important not to let complacency set in and not take the storm threat seriously.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of Kansas and Missouri until 7 PM CDT. In addition to the severe threat, heavy rain and flash flooding will be possible.

There is a storm currently located between  Parkville in liberty that has a radar indicated tornado.
