Let's make Sundays fun days! 🏓 Our Pickleball - Open Play Sundays start back up in 2 weeks, so mark your calendars for Sundays starting September 13 through November 1. Each session will run from 2-4pm at the Southwest Elementary Gym. We have balls and paddles available to borrow. FREE and open to all thanks to our partner with the Lawson School District! Come out and play!

Now that the big kids are back to school, it can be a challenge finding activities to keep the preschool age kids entertained... But don't worry! We have you covered on the 3rd Thursday of each month with Library Pop-Up (Fall 2026)! 📖
Miss Monica from the Ray County Library will be here to share stories, sing songs and do fun activities with the kiddos. FREE and open to all! Our first pop-up is September 17 so mark your calendars! 📆

GOLDEN CARDINALS MOVES TO MONTHLY LUNCH & BINGO GATHERINGS
The Lawson Golden Cardinals, a senior activity program hosted by the Lawson Park Board, is making a few changes this fall to better meet the needs of local older adults and provide even more opportunities for fellowship and connection.
The Golden Cardinals program is designed for adults ages 55 and older, but everyone is welcome. The program provides opportunities for residents to socialize, make new friends, participate in activities, and enjoy time together in a welcoming community setting.
For the past several years, the Golden Cardinals have gathered twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesdays for a variety of recreational and educational activities. Beginning in September, the program will transition to a once-a-month lunch gathering, held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at noon in the Lawson City Hall Community Room.
Each month will feature a different themed meal followed by everyone's favorite—BINGO!
The gatherings will continue to be completely free to attend, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Lawson Primary Care. While there is no cost to participate, attendees are asked to RSVP to Lawson City Hall at 816-580-3217 so organizers can plan appropriately for meals.
Park Board Coordinator Tosha Jackson said the change is designed to complement other senior lunch opportunities already available in the community.
“The Park Board is always looking for ways to better serve our residents. We know that several local churches offer free lunches during the first three weeks of each month, so we felt it made sense to move the Golden Cardinals to the fourth week and create another opportunity for seniors to gather, enjoy a meal, and spend time together. We are excited about this new format and look forward to continuing to serve our older residents!”
The next Golden Cardinals gathering will be Tuesday, September 22, at noon in the Lawson City Hall Community Room. The first gathering under the new format will feature a BBQ/Picnic-themed lunch, followed by bingo.

Tosha is back from vacation and ready to help you stretch! Join her on Tuesday evening for Gentle Yoga or Wednesday morning for Stretch & Rest. All classes are just $5 (drop-in rate) or $20 for a 5-class pass. Yoga mats are available and all props are provided.

🫠 Whew! It may be hot today, but fall will be here before we know it! 🍂 We're just two months away from the Lawson Fall Festival 2026. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 17! This year's event is sponsored by J&D Auto Repair.
We'll have a car show, vendors, bounce houses, bingo, a corn hole tournament, entertainment, costume contest and trunk-or-treat. It's sure to be a great day for the whole family!
