We want to start highlighting some of the unique historical artifacts in each of the facilities as described by our great curators. Our hope is this may us spread the word on the many special things people can see when they visit.

Apologize for the late notification but better late than not at all. Tomorrow morning (April 10) there will be a pre-Civil War cannon section reenactment presented by the Field Artillery Museum. There will be three presentations beginning at 10, 11 and 12 AM. Come learn about this period of field artillery history.

If you haven't been to the "Field Artillery Park" lately, then let us highlight a few changes. We have recently added a M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). HIMARS has been in service since 2002, with service in Iraq and Afghanistan. It has been used in Operation Epic Furry with great success using the new precision-strike missile. Our display is one of the very first made and a combat veteran.

You will also see quite a number of refurbishments, both completed and in progress. Keeping these pieces maintained is a key component of the park. Work has been completed on eight pieces so far, dating from World War II through Desert Storm. Look at the photo of the newly painted JB-2 Loon, the first US guided missile. Our two Pershing missiles are next up for painting.

If you haven't been there in a while, we encourage you to visit.

We just supported another great Southwest Oklahoma non-profit organization. We made a donation of $2500 to the Sergeants Major Association of Southwest Oklahoma for use in their scholarship program. Like our donation to SWOK MOAA, we want to help financially support scholarship programs for the children of service members and veterans. We know that the cost of a higher education gets larger each year.
