Bethel Road VFD and Cox’s Store VFD are bringing in
The Oklahoma Forestry Service to teach- S130, S190, and L180 Wildland classes.

These are the classes needed to gain Firefighter Type 2- Crew Member status with the National Wildlife Coordinating Group (NWCG).

It is a weekend class scheduled for June 5th, 6th, and 7th. It will be starting Friday June 5th at 6:00pm.
The class will be held at the Central High Community Center for Friday and Saturday. Location for the Sunday outside portion is TBD.
Refreshments will be provided everyday, as well as Lunch will be provided Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday will be the skills portion of the test consisting of using hand tools to cut fire lines, timed fire shelter deployments, and a work capacity test.

The work capacity test consists of walking 3 miles in 45 minutes with a 45 pound weighted vest.

This class is a great hands on class and can be physically demanding to complete. With successful completion, ICS(100, and 700) courses you can be certified for National Deployment credentials. Even with no thoughts of national deployment, this class is a great class to learn about fire behavior and skills that could help save your life, or others lives. Having members on the department certified may also help with future grant and funding availability.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighters and families of the Goldsby Fire Department.

Last night, two firefighters from the Goldsby Fire Department made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to serve their community.

This is a solemn reminder that every time the tones drop, our firefighters respond without hesitation—placing the lives of others before their own, no matter the risk.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with their families, the Goldsby Fire Department, and everyone affected by this tragic loss. We stand with you—today and always.

Please keep all first responders in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to answer the call.

Cox’s Store VFD 2025 in review 🚒
This year was full of responses, training, and community support. We’re grateful for our volunteers, our mutual aid partners, and everyone who backs our mission. Thank you for helping us protect this community — we’re ready for what 2026 brings.

In 2025 we responded to 155 incidents:

87 - EMS Responses
27 - Grass Fires
5 - Structure Fires
4 - Vehicle Fires
15 - Vehicle Accidents
17 - Misc. Responses

14 of these responses were Mutual Aid to assist our neighboring departments and communities.
