Today, the Comanche Nation Fire Department had the opportunity to spend time with some of our youngest community members, sharing what we do and why we serve.

Moments like these are more than just visits they’re about building trust, inspiring the next generation, and showing that we are here for our people.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed us and to these future firefighters for bringing the energy and smiles.

Today, we pause to remember one of the darkest days in our state’s history.

On April 19, 1995, the Oklahoma City bombing took 168 innocent lives, including 19 children. Families were forever changed, and an entire community was tested in ways that words can never fully describe.

Thirty years later, we still feel the weight of that loss but we also carry forward the strength, unity, and resilience that followed. In the face of tragedy, Oklahoma did what it has always done: we came together. Neighbors helped neighbors. First responders answered the call without hesitation. Ordinary people showed extraordinary courage.

Today, we honor the lives that were lost, we stand with the survivors, and we remember the sacrifices made by those who responded that day.

As members of the fire service, this day is deeply personal. It is a reminder of our duty to be ready, to serve with compassion, and to stand in the gap when our communities need us most.

We will never forget. We will always remember. And we will continue to serve with purpose in their honor.

The Comanche Nation Fire Department recently responded to an injured hiker in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge earlier today, working alongside U.S. Wildland Fire Services and the Lawton Fire Department.

Crews provided care and support to the injured hiker, ensuring a coordinated and efficient response in challenging terrain. Incidents like these highlight the importance of strong partnerships and interagency cooperation.

It is always a privilege to work with our neighboring departments. Through teamwork, communication, and shared dedication, we can continue to deliver the highest level of service to our community and visitors to our region.

This event was truly a great success, and it carries a lot of meaning because of the foundation that was built over the years by Bonita Paddyaker. She did an outstanding job every year, bringing in numerous schools and creating something special for the students and community.

This year, Injury Prevention, under new leadership by Willie Owens and Brian Jones, took on the responsibility of continuing that legacy and bringing the event back. They had big shoes to fill, but they stepped up and delivered a successful event.

Moving forward, we hope to see this event continue to grow and rekindle each year, providing valuable experiences and opportunities for students.

Today we had the opportunity to take part in a crash simulation, and it was an outstanding experience for everyone involved.

We want to give a big thank you to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Oklahoma County for the incredible job they did. The professionalism, coordination, and realism they brought to this training made it extremely valuable for all agencies involved.

This was not only great training for our responders, but also an important learning experience for the students who were able to see firsthand the real-life consequences of vehicle crashes and the importance of making safe decisions.

Trainings like this strengthen our response, build teamwork, and help educate the next generation.

Even though this was just a one-day event, we truly enjoyed working alongside everyone and are already looking forward to next year.
