BURN BAN IN EFFECT – COMANCHE COUNTY
The Comanche County Board of County Commissioners has officially declared a Burn Ban due to extreme fire danger conditions. This ban is effective immediately and will remain in place for 14 days, with the possibility of extension if conditions persist. Burn Ban 2-23-26
What’s Prohibited:
Outdoor burning of any kind (grass, brush, trash, campfires, bonfires)
Fireworks (including ignition of fireworks)
Uncontrolled open flames
What’s Allowed (with conditions):
Charcoal, propane, and natural gas grills (must be used over non-flammable surfaces and at least 5 feet from vegetation)
Certain welding/cutting operations (with fire suppression and wind limits)
Approved public fireworks displays (with proper authorization)
Violations may result in fines up to $500 and/or jail time.
This Burn Ban does not apply to federal land.
Conditions are dry, winds are unpredictable, and it only takes one spark. Let’s protect our homes, our neighbors, and our firefighters.
