Cadet of the week goes to CDT Gonzo!🥳

What’s your “why” for joining the program?
- “I wanted to join rotc to become an officer so that I could lead soldiers. I feel like I have the skills of common sense and simplicity so everyone to the lowest level would be able to understand. I thrive in high stress environments, so to be able to lead a larger element to success has always been a goal for myself.”

What does your life look like outside of uniform?
- “I like to fish, go to the gym and watch Netflix”

Who do you aspire to be like?
- “my father”

What’s your Favorite quote and why does it resonate with you?
- “The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.” -rumí

It just shows me that some times you need to just take a step back and observe even when you want to say something.

What’s your “why” for joining the program?
“1. So I originally wanted to enlist, right? But the active-duty recruiters were doing a horrible job at recruiting. So, I applied to Cameron, got accepted (because who doesn’t), and now I’m just randomly in college. I never wanted to go to college, I always imagined myself in the army or in a trade. Then I remembered in High school at some point my parents brought me to the Cameron ROTC program, and my dad always told me to be an officer and not enlist, as he was enlisted and retired at 21 years of service. I talked to the Cameron ROTC people at the time, and they did a lot better of a job recruiting me to the ROTC program than the active-duty recruiters. So that’s how I am here now.“

What does your life look like outside of uniform?
“2. Outside of the uniform I just try to be good guy Baima. I do my best to give all my attention to my girlfriend (soon to be fiancé) ((soon to be wife)), my family, then my friends. Hailey and I, Hailey is my girlfriend, normally just hangout at our place and we are always just having fun in each other’s company. When I’m hanging out with my family, normally we go ride dirtbikes, swim in the pool, shoot guns, playing board games, or I’m helping my dad in the garage. Hanging with my friends is normally video games, going to the wildlife refuge, going to eat, or just helping them with anything they need help with.”

Who do you aspire to be like?
“I aspire mainly to be like my parents. Helge and Dorothy Baima. Both my parents have amazing qualities to take from on how they live life. So I’ve really just have tried to be like both of them. In the ways of officership one of our cadre from the past, Captain Filipek. There is no better way in my opinion to be an officer.”
