New update in reference to the wildfires west of Lawton.

🔥 RAILROAD SOUTH FIRE – AUGUST 30 UPDATE 2:00 PM
The Railroad South Fire is under control, but active fire operations continue today in the Indiahoma area of Comanche County.
The evacuation order has been lifted, all traffic control points have been removed, and shelters are no longer active. Residents may return to the affected area, but a heavy fire and law enforcement presence remains within the fire footprint.
Current confirmed impacts include 5 homes destroyed, 2 homes with moderate damage, and 3 civilians transported for medical care.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs has assumed the lead on the fire, with local, state, federal, and tribal resources continuing suppression operations. Crews are reinforcing firebreaks, extinguishing and monitoring hot spots, protecting structures, and watching for rekindle or renewed fire spread. Federal law enforcement is also assisting with the fire investigation.

Any public donations intended to support responding agencies should be coordinated directly through local Volunteer Fire Departments.
