🇺🇸 LABOR DAY SERVICE CLOSURE 🇺🇸
Lawton Area Transit System (LATS) will be CLOSED on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.
🚌 There will be no LATS bus service operating on Labor Day.
Regular bus service will resume on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Labor Day is a time to recognize the hard work and dedication of employees throughout our community. We would especially like to thank our LATS drivers, dispatchers, maintenance team, supervisors, and staff for everything they do each day to keep Lawton moving.
Please plan your transportation needs accordingly, and we hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Keep the LATS family and Young Family in your hearts while we navigate this difficult situation 🤍

The LATS family wanted to wait to make a post about the passing Mr. Ansara Young out of respect/the wishes of the family. But We wanted to share something we never thought we would have to share. With incredibly heavy hearts, We mourn the passing of one of our own, LATS 6 Ansara Young.

There are people who come to work, do their job, and go home. And then there are people whose presence becomes part of the place itself. Ansara was one of those people.

He was a coworker. A friend. A familiar face. A member of this team and this family. His kindness, personality, dedication, and the relationships he built along the way left a mark on LATS that cannot simply be replaced.

To Ansara's family and friends: Thank you for sharing him with us. Please know that he mattered here. He was appreciated here. He was respected here. And he will always and forever be remembered here.

To our LATS employees who worked beside him, laughed with him, talked with him, and shared countless days with him: hold onto those memories. Take care of one another and we will walk through it together.

Ansara, Thank you for every mile. Thank you for every passenger. Thank you for every laugh, every conversation, every helping hand, and every day you chose to be part of this team.
We are heartbroken to say goodbye, but we are incredibly proud to have been able to call you one of our own.

🎒🚌 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL = ALL HANDS ON DECK! 🚌🎒

This morning, the Lawton Area Transit System team was ALL HANDS ON DECK helping students, families, and school staff get where they needed to go for the first day of school! 📚✏️

From assisting riders with routes and answering questions to keeping our buses moving safely throughout the community, TEAM LATS showed up and delivered! 💪🚌

We’re proud to say Day 1 was a SUCCESS! 🎉 A huge THANK YOU to our entire LATS team our drivers, dispatchers, supervisors, operations staff, and everyone behind the scenes who worked together to make this morning run as smoothly as possible.

And to all of our Lawton Public Schools students and staff heading back to the classroom: WELCOME BACK! 🍎📓 We’re excited to be part of your transportation journey throughout the school year.

💰 $610 Million in Federal Transit Funding is Now Available!

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has announced $610 million in competitive funding through the FY 2026 Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities and Low or No Emission Grant Programs.

This is a valuable opportunity to replace aging vehicles, modernize facilities, and invest in cleaner, more reliable transit.
