Exciting News from LCFD!

We’re proud to announce that our new MSA G1 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) have officially been placed into service, replacing our 14-year-old air packs, which were starting to require frequent maintenance and repairs due to their age.

These state-of-the-art SCBAs provide enhanced technology, improved communication capabilities, and the reliability our firefighters depend on while operating in the most hazardous environments. This investment ensures our personnel have the equipment they need to protect themselves while continuing to serve the citizens and visitors of LeClaire safely and effectively.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our community and the LeClaire City Council for their continued support and commitment to investing in the safety of our firefighters and the community we are proud to serve.

UPDATE: The Levee Boat Ramp and Ramp Dock have reopened and are now available for public use.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and cooperation during the temporary closure. We appreciate your understanding as we worked to ensure the area was safe for public access.

As always, please use caution while launching and retrieving your watercraft, follow all posted signs, and be courteous to other boaters.

UPDATE: The ramp and ramp dock are back open.

The Levee Boat Ramp and Ramp Dock are CLOSED until further notice.

Please do not attempt to launch or retrieve boats from this location or access the dock while it is closed. The closure is necessary to ensure public safety.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. Updates will be posted as soon as the boat ramp and dock are safe to reopen.

Today, we joined our friends at the LeClaire Police Department in honoring Sgt. Roger Phelps as he went off duty for the final time.

There couldn’t have been a more meaningful way to end an incredible career than having two of his own children make his final call.

On behalf of everyone at the LeClaire Fire Department, thank you, Roger, for 37 years of dedicated service in law enforcement, including the past 15 years serving the LeClaire community. Your leadership and commitment to law enforcement have made LeClaire safer and stronger, and it has been an honor to serve alongside you.

Congratulations on a well-earned retirement. We wish you and your family nothing but the very best in this next chapter.

For those who haven't heard yet, Sgt. Roger Phelps is officially hanging up his badge!

We will be hosting an open house during Roger's very last shift to give residents a chance to stop by and wish him well, share a memory, or simply thank him for his service!

STRUCTURE FIRE

LeClaire, Iowa (June 24) — Fire crews from multiple departments responded to a structure fire Wednesday afternoon in the 400 block of Wisconsin Street.

At approximately 4:25 p.m., the Scott Emergency Communications Center (SECC) received multiple calls reporting a house on fire. The LeClaire Fire Department was dispatched immediately, along with automatic mutual aid from the Bettendorf Fire Department.

The Fire Chief arrived on scene at 4:30 p.m., with the first LeClaire engine company arriving at 4:33 p.m. Bettendorf Engine 4 arrived at 4:38 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered active smoke and fire conditions coming from the front and side of the residence. Crews deployed multiple hose lines and conducted both interior and exterior fire suppression operations.

A search of the residence, along with confirmation from the property owner, determined that no one was home at the time of the fire.

LeClaire Fire Department responded with 11 personnel (Incident Commander, 2 engines, 2 rescue units).Bettendorf Fire Department responded with 4 personnel (1 chief officer, 1 engine). Princeton Fire Department responded with 5 personnel (1 engine), Totaling 20 personnel on scene. Additional agencies assisting at the scene included LeClaire Police Department, Scott county Sheriff's Office, and Scott County MEDIC.

No injuries to civilians or responders were reported.
