Congratulations to Assistant Fire Chief Steve Schwarz for receiving Council approval to become the Fire Chief on August 14 when Chief David Schipper retires.
Chief Schwartz has been with the Fire -Rescue department for over 25 years. He a achieved the position of firefighter/EMT, Lieutenant, Battalion Chief and has been the Assistant Fire Chief for the last six years.
Chief Schwartz has several national certifications as well in all types of emergencies from fires to medical calls to special operation rescue calls. He is actively involved in building inspections and fire prevention. He has been in charge of the City Disaster plan for the last five years.
