Happy First Day of Summer — and Happy Father’s Day! ☀️📚💙

Today may be the official start of summer, but it’s also a day to celebrate all of the dads, grandpas, stepdads and father figures who help make life a little brighter.

While the library is closed today, we hope you take some time to relax, enjoy the sunshine and make some summer memories. Whether that means reading together, planning a family adventure, listening to an audiobook on a road trip or exploring with one of our South Dakota State Park Passes, the library is here to help make your summer a great one.

The Lead Library will be closed Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth. The library will be open for its regular hours (9 a.m. - noon) on Saturday, June 20th.

Did you know the Lead Library can help you start your next outdoor adventure?

Through the Check Out South Dakota State Parks program, library patrons can borrow a South Dakota State Parks pass and explore parks, recreation areas and nature areas across the state. While you're out exploring, don't forget to participate in Adventure 250—South Dakota's statewide challenge celebrating 250 years of America through outdoor recreation and discovery!

Visit participating state parks and recreation areas, complete fun challenges and submit your adventures for chances to win weekly prizes throughout the summer. Every adventure also helps you earn points toward Adventure 250 recognition and rewards.

It's the first day of June and we are ready for Summer Reading to start! We even have some extra help. We're so happy to welcome Rejoice back to the team for her third summer and some extra help too! 🦖🦕

Our children's and adult Summer Reading programs officially start today, so be sure to stop by to pick up registration bags for the kids and a reading bingo sheet for the adults.
