✨⛏️ July 2 – History Comes Alive
Enjoy an alumni art show & reception, hands-on activities for all ages, science exhibits, and “More Than Gold” at the Historic Homestake Opera House — a musical jukebox-style performance celebrating Historic Lead.

🎸July 3 – Music, Classics & Family Fun
The Chamber will have typical July 3rd activities in Manuel Brother's Park, including the 2nd Annual Gold Rush Cruisin’ Classics Car Show, bounce houses and a co****le tournament. Then move up to Mountain Top Field, where you won't want to miss the Rock The Hills concert put on by the City of Lead!

🇺🇸 July 4 – Gold Camp Jubilee
The Chamber’s annual full day of festivities returns to Manuel Brothers Park with the parade, vendors, food trucks, bounce houses, skateboard competition, volleyball, horseshoes, family activities, music, fireworks, and more from early morning until after the fireworks!

⚾️ July 5 - Baseball, music & community
The celebration wraps up with a vintage baseball showdown between Lead and Deadwood for ultimate bragging rights followed by a community picnic and a musical tribute by Nina McIntire.

Well look what we have here! A bear was spotted on Hanna Road tonight as well, unsure if it’s the same one. They are out there and Game Fish and Parks is aware.

Woo hoo!

🚧💜 PURPLE PARK COMMUNITY WORKDAY TOMORROW! 💜🚧

The finish line is in sight, and we need your help to get the Purple Park project across it!

Join us tomorrow (Tuesday, June 23) starting at 9:00 a.m. for a community workday as we install gravel, move engineered wood fiber, and put the finishing touches on this amazing new playground space.

✅ Bring gloves and a rake if you have them and a carpet knife or scissors
✅ Lunch and water will be provided
✅ Come for an hour or stay all day—whatever works for your schedule!

We’ll likely be working throughout the day, so feel free to stop by whenever you can. Every helping hand makes a difference, and this is a great opportunity to be part of a project that will serve local families for years to come.

Is that time of year! The fawns are out and about.

If you come across an unattended fawn, here’s what to do (and not do):

- Do not touch or pet the fawn: Moving or handling the fawn can cause unnecessary stress. Contrary to popular myth, a mother deer will not reject her baby just because it has human scent on it, but it's best to minimize contact

- Keep pets and kids away: Make sure to keep your dogs on a leash and direct children to play elsewhere. The mother will not return if pets or people are lingering nearby

- Do not feed the fawn: Never attempt to feed a fawn. They have highly sensitive digestive systems and require a specialized diet

- Delay yard work: If the fawn is curled up in a safe, quiet spot like a flowerbed, pause your mowing until the fawn moves on (usually within a day)

If the fawn is in an unsafe area, please contact the Police Department and we will assist in relocating the fawn to safety.

If you are wondering who is going around Lead during the day knocking on doors, it is a University student from Estonia, Parvin Tiks. Parvin is doing a summer exchange program selling educational books and apps for families from young toddlers all the way to college prep. This is his 1st week, so if you see him, don't forget to say hi! His business is legitimate and he has acquired his vendor's permit from the City of Lead.

E-bikes are gaining popularity! They are a great source of transportation especially with the higher than average fuel prices.

E-bikes are permitted on the street, however some rules apply:
- e-bikes must follow all signage (stop signs etc.) and speed limits
- they are permitted on sidewalks as well, however the pedestrians still maintain the right of way
- they are NOT permitted in the downtown walking area
- helmets are recommended for all ages and eye protection is required

E bikes may be exempt from a law or two however they are not exempt from the laws of physics! Ride safe; ride smart!
