May Spice of the Month: Cloves: Cloves grow best in warm, humid weather and damp, loamy soil. One tree can produce up to 40 pounds of cloves a year. When the buds turn pink, they are harvested and left to dry in the sun. Pick up your spice kit with additional history, recipes, and a sample of ground clove from the circulation desk.

The Book Nook at Bertolet Memorial Library: Relax and enjoy a good book under the Book Nook. The Book Nook used a photo for inspiration and was designed and assembled by Bertolet Memorial Library board member Mollie Krecklow and her husband, Josh, from weeded books primarily from South Beloit Public Library.

We enjoyed another fantastic program from "Hoo" Haven on April 15th. They shared their Birds of Prey including a screech owl and barn owl. They also brough the softest angora rabbit, a corn snake, and a fox snake. Thank you for your donations from their wish list that we were able to send back with them to their facility.

May Book of the Month: In Save Me by Lisa Scottoline, an explosion happens in a school cafeteria, and Rose McKenna must decide to rescue her own daughter or another child. When the truth comes out about her choice, Rose becomes a villain in her town. Her own daughter goes back to school while the girl Rose rescued is still in the hospital.
