📢Important Attendance Law Update📢

During the most recent Mississippi legislative session, a new attendance law was passed to help reduce chronic absenteeism and improve student attendance.

The new law takes effect July 1, 2026, for the 2026-2027 school year.

Please review the attached graphic that provides an overview of the key changes. Take a moment to review the information so you're prepared for the upcoming school year.

Parents, please make sure your child attends school every day unless they have a valid excused absence. Every day of learning matters!

BREAKING: Just earlier this afternoon a school bus on Highway 57 north of Leakesville was rear ended shortly after dropping off a student. Parents were immediately notified and called to get students after being checked out by first responders. A few students were transported by ambulance for further assessment for minor injuries. We are thankful for our county first responders and all those who assisted our students and bus driver.
