Where We’ve Been: The Leander Educational Excellence Foundation (LEEF) was founded in 2007 by a group of volunteers who understood that state funding was not enough to meet the needs of our Leander Independent School District (LISD) students and staff. Additional resources were critical to support innovation, enrichment and equity in pursuit of academic excellence within LISD. Where We’re Going: O

ur annual partners make our mission to enrich the educational experience possible. Their generosity and commitment equates to over $100,000 in annual support. Through our annual partners and fundraising events, $70,000 in grants and $30,000 in AP exam, dual credit textbook and mLISD scholarships are provided annually. Project graduation, reading initiatives, fine arts and programs, such as INCubatoredu are supported. What began as a $17,000 foundation is now a $350,000 foundation with a five year vision to become a $1,000,000 foundation. We look forward to working with our community partners to create a future where the needs of all students and staff are met. Be a Partner: You can help us reach our goals by joining our Classroom Impact Team. For just $5 per month, you can make a difference. $5 per month in honor of each LISD student puts nearly $1,000,000 back into our classrooms annually. LEEF Volunteer Spotlight! 📚💙
LEEF is proud to celebrate its Book Portable and the incredible volunteers who make it possible. Filled with gently used books, the portable helps stock LISD classroom libraries, provide free books to students, and support our community at no cost.

For 16 years, Mary Ellen, a retired LISD teacher and reading specialist, and her husband, Bill Pate, have sorted, organized, and fulfilled book requests, helping grow a love of reading across our district. We are so grateful for your time and commitment! ✨

“I’ve volunteered at the LEEF Book Portable all these years because I truly believe that getting books into the hands of every student is the first step in making strong future leaders who know how to use their imaginations, think outside of the box and make informed decisions for the betterment of us all.
