A mosquito sample in a trap near Lakewood Park in Leander has tested positive for West Nile Virus, according to the Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD). A Williamson County contractor will treat the area tonight 9/4/2026 and Saturday 9/5/2026 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Monday, August 31, 2026 the Chlorine Rinse in Leander will end.

The transition back to normal water treatment will begin on August 31. Water customers may still notice a chlorine smell or taste for several days as the water treatment systems return to normal operations. During this time the water remains safe for everyday use.
If there is still a noticeable chlorine smell after September 7, start by flushing faucets and taps for a few minutes. If this doesn't fix the issue, please reach out to Public Works at: 512.259.2640.
