We’re ushering in the dog days of summer this weekend with our first ever Dog & Jog 3K! Two-legged and four-legged walkers and runners of all ages are invited to join us today for a quick jaunt from the COA office at 711 Marshall Street to Bad to the Bone Boarding and Grooming.

We want to thank all our sponsors who have contributed to this event: Bad to the Bone Boarding and Grooming, Dog & Cat Clinic, Twin Oaks Independent Living, Kansas Country Store, Fat Cat’s Dog Boarding, CareVet of Lansing, Dog Training with Rhonda York and Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic! All funds raised from the Dog & Jog will support the COA’s pet programs, PALS & Pet2Vet, which help support qualifying senior pet owners in Leavenworth County. These programs are entirely dependent on donations and limited grant opportunities for operation.

Registration is $35 and starts at 9AM today. We have a limited number of event t-shirts available, which are included in registration. Proof of rabies vaccination required for all participating dogs. The walk begins at 10AM.

On May 28th, thirty-two adventurers hopped on the KC Streetcar from Union Station to Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, on to the City Market, and back to Union Station for a day of exploration and laughter.

Museum guides at Kemper provided in-depth information about global modern and contemporary art while our group visited the beautiful galleries. At City Market, patrons were free to choose a place for lunch and check out the variety of vendors. The Streetcar offered views of KC to include the Power & Light district, Crossroads, Liberty Memorial, Kauffman Center, and Westport.

Everyone enjoyed the experience!

Thank You, Exchange Bank & Trust!
The Leavenworth County Council on Aging would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Exchange Bank & Trust becoming one of the first sponsors of our 2026 Meals on Wheels Benefit, A Night of Glitz & Giving!

This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate 50 years of Meals on Wheels in Leavenworth County. For five decades, this program has been delivering hope to local seniors through nutritious meals, wellness checks, and meaningful connections that help older adults remain independent in their own homes.
Join us on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Riverfront Community Center as we celebrate this incredible milestone with an evening of Hollywood glamour, community spirit, and fundraising to support one of our county's most impactful programs.

We are still seeking sponsors to help us continue delivering meals, independence, and hope to hundreds of Leavenworth County seniors each year. Businesses, organizations, and community partners interested in sponsoring this special event are encouraged to reach out.
