The Leavenworth area is one of my favorite spots in Washington. I love the drive west of town on Highway 2. And, don't forget to stop at The Alps for some great fudge, as well as the 59er Diner for a burger and shake.

Come to Leavenworth, Washington and experience some Bavarian culture. The Alphorn is made of one tree. Originally they used white pine, this one is made in Switzerland from spruce. They're traditionally 12' long. The tree is cut down and split in half. It's then carved and bound back together. The tree is picked from a steep slope to get the natural curve on the bottom.

We attended the 2013 races on Spanaway Lake. This is the second year that we watched the races here. I wouldn't even consider myself an amateur fan. But, I do like to see things go fast and hear loud engines.

Just outside of Mt. Rainier National Park is a 1.5 mile hike up 1500 feet to a fire lookout built in 1929.
