City of Leawood, KS Government Living with Distinction The purpose of this policy is to establish terms and conditions for use of the City of Leawood’s social media platforms.

SOCIAL MEDIA TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Posting to, or commenting on, any City of Leawood social media page constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions. The City of Leawood's social media sites exist to provide citizens and stakeholders with information about the City of Leawood, its programs and services, and as a mechanism for communication by the City to the members of the public. City soci

al media platforms are not the primary method of communication with the City and any requests for City services must be made by traditional methods of notification. Social media sites maintained by the City of Leawood are NOT intended to create a public forum. The City reserves the right to remove or restrict any content or comments that is deemed in violation of these terms and conditions or any applicable law. Comments containing any of the following may be removed from public view and/or reported to Administrators as being in violation:

1. Profane language or content.

2. Discriminatory content.

3. Sexual content or links to sexual content.

4. Commercial solicitations.

5. Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity.

6. Information that may compromise the safety or security of the public or the City’s personnel.

7. Content that violates copyright or trademark or other legal ownership interests of another.

8. Information affiliated with or promoting political campaigns. EXCEPTIONS, EDITS, DELETIONS
The City of Leawood reserves the right to remove any content that is deemed in violation of these terms and conditions or any applicable law. Inappropriate posts or comments may be deleted at the sole discretion of the City of Leawood. Any person or account on a City social media page that repeatedly violates these terms and conditions may be permanently removed from the City’s social media page(s). The City may temporarily or permanently block users or suspend access to any page at any time. The City of Leawood may terminate any City social media page at any time without notice. MONITORING OF PAGES
The City of Leawood understands social media is a 24/7 medium; however, the City's social media pages are not monitored 24/7. To report content that may violate these terms, send a message on the social media page/platform or email the Communications Manager at [email protected]. Please do not use the City's social media pages to report a crime or suspicious activity. Emergency information should be reported to 9-1-1. DISCLAIMER

It’s National Dog Day, and we’re celebrating one of Leawood’s hardest-working good girls: K-9 Prima!

Prima joined the Leawood Police Department in April 2025 and has been helping keep our community safe ever since. She is a 2-year-old Dutch Shepherd from Poland and is trained in narcotics detection, tracking, and suspect apprehension. In her short time with Leawood, she has already tracked down suspects, found a firearm after a shooting, and helped with many narcotics searches.

Thank you, Prima, for your service and for being such an important member of the Leawood Police Department team! 🐾

🚒 Fire Department Open House Update

We’re hitting pause on this year’s Leawood Fire Department Open House- but for a pretty exciting reason! Leawood is preparing to welcome Andrew Grove as our new Fire Chief on Sept. 8, and we want to give Chief Grove time to settle in and get ready to welcome all of you.

The Fire Department Open House is one of our favorite opportunities to bring the community together, and we want to make sure our new Chief can be a full part of it - meeting Leawood residents, introducing himself, and showing you around the department he’ll soon lead.

A new Open House date has not yet been set, but we’ll share details as soon as they’re available.

We look forward to welcoming Chief Grove to Leawood and welcoming you back to the firehouse soon! Keep an eye on our page for details soon. 🚒

🚧 Construction blasting is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 31 (weather permitting) at the development site near Leawood City Park on College Boulevard and State Line Road.

Blasting is necessary for the project to remove rock and is expected to continue through mid-October. Blasting is generally scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays around 10 a.m., with no more than one blast per day.

Residents and visitors near the area may hear blasts during the construction period. Visitors to Leawoof Dog Park and nearby trails, as well as trail users at City Park, should expect brief access restrictions during blasting activities.

🚧 83rd Street Traffic Update: Local Traffic Only

A reminder for drivers: 83rd Street is CLOSED to through traffic between the Prairie Village city limits and State Line Road. The roadway is open only for local access to homes, properties and construction areas.

Here’s the current configuration:
➡️ Prairie Village city limits to Wenonga: Eastbound local traffic only. Traffic has shifted to the newly constructed north side of the roadway.
➡️ Wenonga to Lee Boulevard: Eastbound local traffic only.
↔️ Lee Boulevard to Sagamore: Two-way local traffic.
↔️ Sagamore to State Line: Two-way local traffic, with the closure/barricade at State Line Road.

If your destination is not within the construction area, please use an alternate route rather than traveling through 83rd Street.
