Head Start Nutrition Specialist in Elizabethtown

JOB PURPOSE: The Nutrition Specialist is responsible for the implementation of nutritional service delivery and sanitation in accordance with program policies and procedures, Head Start Program Performance Standards, and federal, state, and local regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Ensures children receive meals and snacks according to USDA and performance standards.

Communicates effectively and to appropriate staff and parents regarding meal service.

Orders and maintains supplies needed for meal service.

Adheres to classroom meal schedules and routines.

Ensures facility is clean and well maintained. Maintains a clean kitchen/cafeteria area.

Monitors kitchen/cafeteria for needed repairs and requests work orders.

Ensures USDA documentation and recordkeeping are timely and accurately completed and maintained as required by all applicable regulations.

Responsible for transporting and/or receiving meals from food service providers.

Assists the children in setting the tables, serving the food and the sanitary disposal of unused meals.

Performs cleaning and sanitizing duties such as washing dishes, utensils, equipment, counters, cabinets, chairs, and tables; along with trash removal, food preparation surfaces sanitation and food storage appliances and equipment cleansing.

Oversees and maintains inventory of food items, supplies and materials.

Monitors and records the temperature of cold and hot food items to ensure food items are served at appropriate and acceptable temperatures.

Food preparation, including attention to detail regarding children with modified diets and appropriate portion sizes.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work well with individuals of all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.

SCHEDULE:

Full-time (35 hours/week), Monday-Friday.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Central KY Community Action Council - Transportation Specialist for Grayson, LaRue, Breckinridge, and Nelson Counties-full-time

JOB PURPOSE: Transportation Specialists provide safe transportation services for clients utilizing the agency’s transportation service. Responsible for maintaining accurate service and van records and safe operation of agency vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Provides transportation service to enrolled participants and assist to and from the door of their residence to the vehicle and/or service destination.
• Maintains accurate van reports.
• Ensures all riders are accounted for and that some individual/program pays for transportation services.
• Provides safe assistance to each passenger boarding the vehicle.
• Opens and closes all vehicle doors.
• Must wear seat belt.
• Ensures daily check in with Lead Driver.
• Observes manifests and prepares for trips scheduled on the following day.
• Checks engine oil each day before starting the vehicle.
• Attends staff meetings and training sessions as necessary.
• Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the agency and the community.
• Prepares and submits timesheet as required.
• Ensures that all vehicle doors are unlocked before starting the day
• Ensure all vehicle doors are locked when away from it.
• Checks for proper clearance before pulling under low roofs, carports, or drive-in windows.
• Stops at all railroad crossings.
• Assures vehicle cleanliness and maintenance.
• Does not leave the vehicle(s) with the engine running.
• Reports all injuries to the Safety and Security Officer.
• Remains familiar with and follows safety rules, procedures, and policies.
• Participates in quarterly safety meetings.
• Operates agency equipment in the way it was intended.
• Responsible for managing on-board safety and security incidents from impact until supervisors and/or first responders arrive.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to always drive with both hands on the steering wheel.
• Must be able to check all fluid levels.
• Must assist all clients on and off vehicles.
• On all lift/ramp equipped vehicles, assist wheelchairs onto the vehicle; roll wheelchair to the locking device in vehicle and squat down to secure the wheelchair; open and close all doors. The factory weight limit for lifts on wheelchair buses is 800 lbs.
• Carry the 5 limit bags of groceries from vehicles to the home (weight 10 – 15 lbs).
• Perform vehicle inspection, looking underneath the vehicle for leaks.
• Listen and communicate with the cell phone provided by company.
• Ease a client carefully onto the ground, hard surface, or floor to perform CPR.
• Must be able to drive the vehicle without the help of pillow’s/wood blocks, etc. to reach the vehicle controls, such as the accelerator.
• Must be able to sit for a period of 2 hours. (Sitting time depends on the distance of trip.)
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings.
• DOT physical/drug screen required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
